    Advantages Advantages Cheap and central

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit noisy, bit grimy in places

Getting massively discounted tickets to the World Gymnastics Championships was an offer too good to pass up, but I assumed at the time that our good luck would end there and it would still not be the cheapest of weekends down in London. However, I managed to find train tickets from Manchester for £8 each way, and a room in this cheapie Travelodge for a too-good-to-be-true £35, turning our mini break into a bargain of a weekend. I hadn't stayed in any London Travelodges before, but the city is crawling with them, and my first tip is to make a note of both the name and address of where you are ... more

Advantages Advantages Checkin was needlessly annoying

Disadvantages Disadvantages Apparently doest bookout, as just experienced with a test booking

    * 200 YARDS FROM THE TRAIN STATION This past weekend saw myself and three friends embark on a trip to London, the reasoning behind it was actually to attend the auditions taking place for Big Brother at the Emirates Stadium, and for some reason this led us to staying at the Kings Cross Travelodge.. I'm not sure if it was actually the closest place to stay considering where we wanted to go, but it was supposed to be close to the train station nonetheless. Apparently there are two Travelodge's in close vicinity to the Kings Cross train station, 'the main hub for London, right?' Those two ... more

4 Stars Cheap and Cheerful - Kings Cross Travelodge Review with images 31/01/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Location; clean; good price for London

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some may find the traffic noise a problem; no luggage room

Note: There are several Travelodge hotels in this area. The one I am reviewing is the Kings Cross Travelodge (also known as Travelodge Kings Cross Central). This is the correct hotel for this Ciao category. The Kings Cross Royal Scot on the Kings Cross Road used to be the Thistle Islington and since it became a Travelodge it has become very run down and I would not recommend it. There is another Travelodge at Euston Station and another further along Kings Cross Road called Travelodge Farringdon. As I wanted us to go away again less than a week after returning from another trip, I had to ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and well decorated with an immaculate bathroom.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None although some rooms could be noisy due to nightclubs and traffic.

Just recently our house was buzzing with great excitement. Hubby and I are intense followers of a prog rock band from Norway called Gazpacho-nothing to do with the tasty chilled soup of the same name, but a highly talented group of musicians who were playing their own gig for the first time ever on UK soil. Having purchased tickets we sought eagerly to book an overnight stay in London, because although it is perfectly possible to get home to Chelmsford, where we live, it is always a mad rush to Liverpool Street after the show, and a really late mid week night which renders us shattered, now we ... more

Advantages Advantages Generally cheap, very nice, friendly staff

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The London Underground!!!

I returned from a short theatre break in London yesterday after staying overnight in the Kings Cross Travelodge. We had opted to stay here as in December last year we had a similar DIY theatre break and had called in here to ask for directions to the Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge. We had all agreed at the time that it looked nice, however we had booked the Kings Cross Royal Scot as it had triple rooms. After staying at the Kings Cross Royal Scot, however, we were appalled (see separate review). Because of this we opted to stay in a simple family room at the Kings Cross Travelodge as ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very poor hotel

Having stayed in many a hotel in London and many other large cities, I would rate this Hotel as the poorest I have visited. The Hotel could be vastly improved with a fairly small cash injection and probably better management! Upon arrival at the hotel, the first impressions are a less than welcoming entrance in what can only be described as a run down area of London. The Windows were dirty and pavement littered with last nights meals from drunken partygoers who'd probably seen their evenings meal for the second time! General rubbish was noticeable too, which is unusual for such a usually clean ... more

Advantages Advantages clean, good location for transport, helpful staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages some rooms are very noisy

I stayed at this Travelodge for a weekend with my parents. It was Dad's birthday so we all met up in London so he could look around the museums, galleries etc. I chose this hotel as their train came in at King's Cross and it seemed an easy location for them to be able to travel around the city from. We stayed form the 22nd until the 25th of February 2008. I must admit I read a couple of reviews after I had booked it so I was a bit nervous and had images of my mother shouting at me for booking them in to some hell hole! However, when I arrived any fears I had were proved unfounded. The Lobby ... more

    Advantages Advantages NONE!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Where do I start?

I stayed in this hotel with my mum and younger brother on the 28th December 2007. I can honestly say that I have never experienced, or rather undured such bad conditions in a hotel in my life. The following is from the letter of complaint that my mum has sent to Travelodge following the stay. This is not written by myself however is based on the experience of my family and myself. I hope you enjoy reading... My two teenage boys and myself arrived at the Royal Scot at approximately 10.45am on Friday 28 December 2007, hoping to drop off the one case we had in order to proceed to the West End and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Convienient for Eurostar

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much worked.

This Travelodge is close to Kings Cross station, London. We stayed one night before catching a Eurostar from St Pancras early the following morning. We booked online several months in advance and paid £49 for a double room, more than we would usually pay for a Travelodge, but this was central London. We were offered breakfast when we checked in but declined as we were leaving so early. I thought that the building was the nicest Travelodge we have ever seen. The receptionist told us that it was old housing offices. This conversion did however mean that our room was on the fifth floor, and the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Prices Available

Disadvantages Disadvantages Make sure you are in good time for brekkie

As with hotels in this chain you are able to get some really good rates. We recently stayed there for £26!! This is unbeatable value especially for 3 adults. THe hotel is about 5-10 mins walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and is not difficult to find. The rooms are quite large in comparison to other hotels in the chain we have stayed at including a lot of storage space. The room was clean and tidy with a wet room/ bathroom which was also clean. The only fault we had was with the breakfast, it is supposed to be served from 7-10 am. WE arrived at around 9.30, what was left was cold and some of it ... more
