Travelodge by the Bay, San Francisco

...San Francisco, staying in the Travelodge by the Bay for a second time. I would recommend this if, like me, you simply want somewhere which will be a good base to explore the city, and you’re happy to eat outside the hotel/motel. I don't know what it would be like to stay there with kids but think that given its value for money, proximity to public transport and choice of rooms, it would probably be ok as a family option. ...I discovered a convenient budget Travelodge on Lombard Street near the 'crooked' section at Russian Hill. (Budget in this case is by SF standards.) The hotel is small (72 rooms) and close to the tourist areas at Fisherman's Wharf and the Alcatraz ferry point. I would not recommend it as a family type hotel but rather as a basic solution when you want to see SF on a budget yet feel safe and secure. Rooms are en-suite, spacious, with phone and TV. ...
