Alton Towers, Park Of Laughs & Screams!

Advantages: Screamathon, Fast, Thilling
Disadvantages: Expensive, Pay for Parking

...theme parks, part of the Tussauds franchise is the number one attraction for thrill seekers up and down the country. I went for the 2nd time last week and loved it. === The Journey & Park Location === Alton Towers is situated in Alton, Staffordshire and is very easy to get too. My first visit to the theme park was when I was in year 10 at school and all I could remember of the journey was the very small windy lanes leading from the village to the ...
...double-decker bus comes round the corner!" Thankfully one didn't and I lived to tell the tale. On this trip I was cautious of the lanes as it was the first time I had driven in the area. I need not have worried I found the trip hassle-free and the location easy to find with my auto route directions. Once you get to the entrance signs to the park you are required to drive about a mile down a road leading to the car parks. The huge car parks, where ...

Love is in the AIR

Advantages: A great day out, some amazing rides
Disadvantages: Long queues

It’s the summer holidays and for most kids this can end up being quite boring if there’s nothing to do. This year I took my second visit to Alton Towers theme park. I visited the park on a Sunday as part of a bus trip that was being ran by Durham city coaches. The price for the day was £31.50, which was my bus there and back and my entry into the park. Normal prices differ due to peak or off peak times (see below). From Washington the journey to ...
...the park until 12. We had to be back at the bus for quarter to 6 giving us 5hours and 45minutes. We all thought this would be ample time to explore and go on the rides but in order to see the whole park I would recommend getting there early. Alton towers is owned by Tussards, which has a total of 6 places throughout the UK. It is a theme park with some of the most famous rides including the Oblivion which is the first ever roller coaster with a ...

Oh those wonderful Towers of Alton

Advantages: Best rides in the world and lots to do
Disadvantages: Can be pricey and busy at peak times - cleaner toilets needed

...old with new. The Tussauds group decided to throw a few rides around the towers some 25 years ago and have continued to build on that ever since. Alton Towers is now the UK’s largest theme park and in my opinion, on par with some of the worlds best theme parks and attractions. The Tussauds group own many other leisure parks, including Chessington and Madam Tussauds but have used Alton Towers as their prized jewel in the entertainment crown of Great ...
...I have been to Alton Towers many times in the past and have no troubling in coming to terms with the fact that its almost 200 miles away from London. However, given the fact that I’ve been to almost every theme park in the UK, I knew that making the journey would have its rewards. Alton Towers is located in Staffordshire, near Derby and Stoke on Trent and can be accessed from some main roads and motorways. BY CAR - Use the M1 junction 23 for travellers ...

A Great Day Out

Advantages: Something for all ages
Disadvantages: Lots of walking

I recently went to Alton Towers for the third time. It was a rainy day and we got hailed on too but we still managed to have a great time, despite the weather. Oblivion - Now it took a lot of persuading to get me on this one, and boy was I terrified. I wanted to get off but it was too late. It went up, up, up and my heart was pounding. The tension was incredible as it held us over the edge, and an almighty scream from somewhere deep inside me came ...
...was shaking and almost in tears, my stomach felt funny - it was great! I can't wait to go on it again!! Nemesis - this looks a lot worse than it is, you dont really even feel yourself going upsidedown. I would definatly reccomend this ride, it's fantastic, you get such a rush, but as ever, it's over much too soon. Air - Now this ride looked like a scorcher, it's a shame I didnt get to try it out. Luckily it has one of those virtual queues, so queing ...

Good day out, wish i could have taken my bycycle.

Advantages: Scenic country settings. Lovely gardens. Good fun.
Disadvantages: Queues. Parking charges add to the cost.

Alton towers is the flagship of the Merlin group. Its a huge area of land set in some of the most picturesque scenery in England. The surrounding area is full of green fields, quaint buildings, towers and castles. As I said the park is massive. the gardens are superb. Topiery at its best. One way to see it all is to travel all around using the cable car, a breathtaking experience. To walk through would take an age but well worth it. The buiding/castle ...
...redevlopement and will house no doubt another attraction. As I said, this place is big and me being a little on the older side, wished I could have taken my bike. There are a few hill climbs in places. Merry mayhem has gone and has been themed into a pirate area, an arcade in this area, offering the usual coin slots, cranes and videos. Plenty of food joints. I liked the one in the courtyard, eat drink and be merry, while being entertained by a pirate ...

Something for everyone!

Advantages: Lots to do, rides seldom break down, something for everyone.
Disadvantages: Big queues for some rides, tickets rather pricey, especially for kids

In my opinion, Alton Towers is a fantastic and well rounded out theme park. Unlike it's sister parks such as Thorpe Park or Chessington, there really is something for everyone here. The Towers are well known for their thrill rides (such as Nemesis and Oblivion), but they have a great family selection as well, including the The Flume and Spinball Whizzer. There are a few things you need to know before you visit the park though. Firstly, remember to ...
...There are pay machines in the main entrance and the entrance to the monorail, which will give you a token to use on the machines on the way out. Personally, I feel this fee is amazingly steep, especially when places like Thorpe Park will let you park for free! Also, if you are visiting with anyone who is disabled, you will need to visit the guest services building to recieve your wristbands that entitle you to queue in the special 'disabled' lines ...

WHERE THE MAGIC NEVER ENDS...

Advantages: GREAT DAY OUT FOR EVERYONE
Disadvantages: CAN GET QUITE EXSPENSIVE

During my break up North a while ago I visited Alton Towers. When my parents were together we usually went up to Alton Towers yearly so why not miss out this year too!? My Dad decided to take us in the end ('us' = me and my two sisters) and we had a really great time like every time we go! We decided to drive up on a Sunday night, stay at a hotel and drive to the theme park the next morning. It worked out really well and the park was definitely ...

You may recognise the name, the company also runs another theme park, 'Chessington World Of Adventures' and 'Madame Tussards' in London. Tussards has in total 6 attractions in the UK. alton towers

Advantages: plenty of rides, easy access to all parts of the park, help always at hand.
Disadvantages: bit over priced

ive been to alton towers several times in my opinion its not that brilliant for children ,more for the adult thrill seeker. its quite expensive on admission and the food i feel is a little over priced, the rides are very daring not ones for the faint hearted and rides are very limited for children there is only one whole section for children and the odd ride dotted around the park. alton towers is not that easy to find although some sign posts ...

Alton Towers - A great day out.

Advantages: It was thrilling, fun, exciting, and a new experience.
Disadvantages: Expensive, incorrect queue times displayed on boards.

It was the mid term school break, we needed something to do so we decided to go to Alton Towers after we had already tried out Thorpe Park. As it was the Scarefest we thought it would be extremely busy however to our surprise it was extremely quiet early on. We didnt have fast track but we still managed to do all of the scarefest events and rides, including some of the non main rides (e.g. Log Flume). However, the prices were quite high (£1.50 for ...
...your car for a whole day which was quite expensive due to the fact that you had already payed around £100 to get into the park, lucky we had 2 for 1 tickets which decreased the amount we had to pay. A good trick is to get there very early, and as soon as the gates open run to Nemesis, and then after Nemesis to Air as they are very close to each other. Be warned, Rita Queen of Speeds can get huge queues (around 2 hours) in the middle of the day, and ...

ALTON TOWERS!!!!!

Advantages: great rides for all the family
Disadvantages: the bad press about the man who died on the black hole ride

I love Alton towers it has to be the best theme park ive beem to ( i haven't went disney) you can find a ride for all types of people for the thrill seekers oblivion rita and nemesis for the people who like to take it easy air and quite a few more and a good few for younger children i only know a few that is charlie and the chocolate factory and peugeot driving school. When i went there they had a good deal of pay £5 and come back the next day. ...
...plan on what rides you are going to go on and when. They also have their own myth about a curse on a family who lived their and a tree that only had a few branches and every time one fell of a member of the family would die they have a optical illusion ride their were you just swing a little bit but it looks like you going upside down. I would highly recomend going there. There are to hotels there each aimed for different people if your going ...

Quick review of Tussauds - Alton Towers

An excellent theme park!!!! The variety of rides is brilliant and there are so many rollercoasters! You get a lot more for your money than Thorpe Park and it is only £3 more for an adult ticket! It is a great day out whether your an extreme thrill seeker or a family with small children. The hotel is brilliant with excellent service including food, cleanliness etc. I highly reccomend going there for a day out or for an overnight stay (especially at halloween). ...

Are we loosing our magic?

Advantages: something for everyone, plenty to do, happy friendly staff ;)
Disadvantages: ques! prices!

As an Alton Towers employee, i thought i'd review the place. This year is my second season of employment at Towers and quite frankly, i'm a little disappointed. The prices of entry seem to be rising constantly, i'm sure we're more expensive than Disneyland now and I know for sure we're more expensive than Chessington. £34 just to get through the turnstiles? A little cheeky i'd say! Oh and then there's the ques, I think in order to ride without waiting ...
...(9:30am) or buy what we call a 'shortcut thrill' on top of that £34, taking you up to £41. Horrific. I can't even say that you make the money back with eating on park either. After you've bought your family tickets, your shortcuts, your ''unlimited refill'' drinks, your meals, your gifts etc. you may wish you had just gone to the cinema. BUT! and there is a but..if you ARE a speed freak, adrenaline junkie etc it is the place to go!! Quite a few places ...

Great day out

Advantages: Rides are brill
Disadvantages: Can be busy

Alton Towers is the most popular tourist attraction in the UK so the key is to go when it is not too busy. If you go at the weekend, bank holiday or when the schools are shut then you will not get your money's worth - £20 will only get you 2 or 3 rides on the top attractions. But go on say a Tuesday, and you'll find no queue more than 15 minutes long and this makes the park great value at these times. The best rides are the Nemesis, an awesome rollercoaster ...
...you feel like you've been on one hell of a trip! The Oblivion is over too quickly, only about 20 seconds of actual ride time, but if you don't like heights then it is a good way to get the adrenaline going! The Corkscrew is excellent for a 20 year old coaster, and the water rides such as the log flume and river rapids are great when the sun shines. One thing, the food is extortionate here so bring a picnic, or eat at one of the pubs nearby on the ...

Tussaud's Magical World Of Alton Towers!

Advantages: Magical experience, brilliant rides, UK's largest theme park!
Disadvantages: Prices are expensive!

Set in the beautiful town of Alton in Staffordshire, visiting Alton Towers is like visiting another world. The whole experience from when you arrive until you leave is like magic and leaves you feeling cheery. The UK's largest theme park Alton Towers is themed in all the different areas with rides for kids aswell as the bigger and more exciting rides for the adult thrill seekers. The staff are always happy and helful and the rides are brilliant for ...
...is also two uniquelly themed hotels, The Alton Towers Hotel, and the Splash Landings Hotel. Staying at these hotels also allows you to enjoy the privilege of early ride time, where you get to explore the park for an hour before it is opened to anyone else! The only bad points about the Alton Towers experience are the prices! Just to get into the park costs around £36 on the day or £29 online per adult. Making it an expensive day out if there is more ...
