Advantages Advantages Fantastic displays, shark tanks, kelp forest, penguins

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be full of small children running around shouting about "Nemo"!

Having recently spent time in Cape Town (see my other review), I'm now going to get specific and start describing the attractions. One of my favourites was the Two Oceans Aquarium, conveniently situated at the V&A Waterfront of Cape Town. The Waterfront complex is now the tourist heart of Cape Town, and is a relatively safe and pleasant area. I say relatively, as both myself and my companion got card-frauded (we believe somewhere in the Waterfront, though we can't be sure). The Two Oceans Aquarium is one of the best that I have been to. I am a bit of an aquarium fan, so this may mean I enjoyed ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots to see, Value for Money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be busy at peak times

The Two Oceans Aquarium is situated just off the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront on dock road. This was in walking distance from our hotel of just 5 minutes (see review on table bay hotel). I noticed that there were parking spaces located close to the aquarium and if you used the spaces behind the aquarium you could claim back your money at the ticket office. ****Admission Costs**** Adults R60.00 // £5.00 Children (4-17) R28.00 // £2.00 Under 4 Free Pensioners R45.00 // £4.00 Students R50.00 // £4.00 If you are in a group fo 10 or more then there is a 10% discount. Advantages Advantages Displays relate to South Africa in particular.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little sparse in places

Situated close to the Victoria and Albert Waterfront, the aquarium only costs about £3 to get in. I found it a little sparse, but they do have some great stuff there. It really depends on what you like, I am fascinated by the sea, but am too scared to ever go scuba diving, so a place like this is fantastic for me. They have a fantastic display of moray eels, on loan from Singapore, so I don’t know how long they will be they for. They have many sharks and other large species in a huge 2-storey tank, which you can view from different areas, and also walk through the glass tunnel. The Japanese ... more

3 Stars Quick review of Two Oceans Aquarium (South Africa) by Matey2U 03/06/2008
Perfect for children. It is very busy but there is an incredible selection of fish there. I am not a fish fan and only went there as there is not much to do in Cape Town when it is cloudy and wet. But it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours. There are some really huge fish tanks, and some very unusual creatures (spider crabs? Scary.). Most of the fish are examples of what is found in the waters near Cape Town. Tip - go to the Aquarium before you do the bus tour as the Aquarium ticket ... more
