I was not overly interested in going to see the Arizon but my husband who was in teh forces wanted to go and see it. I am glad that we did.
We arrived by shuttle and went straight to get our ticket for the Arizona, there is generally a long wait (2.5Hrs) so get your ticket first.
We headed to the mess tent and deposited our bags as you are not allowed to have any bags, your allowed your wallet only for safety and security reasons, that was fine ... ...escorted away by the military police so dont give them any bother.
We had 2.5Hrs to spare and you can go to see the Missorri and a sub in that time and look around the grounds, have a cuppa and that kind of stuff. We then headed over to the Arizon museum where you wait for your time slot. It was an amazing collection of teh History of Pearl Harbour.
Filled with letters home, personal logs, photos and models of the harbous before and after the attack. ...

Advantages: Sensitive and incredibly informative memorial, in a beautiful setting. Disadvantages: There are a limited number of tours each day so you may have to wait for more than an hour.
The USS Arizona, a US battleship (BB-39), had an adventurous life, but it is perhaps its death, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, which had the greater impact on history. As the scenes and pictures of this ship exploding, with 1,177 of its crew still aboard, was a major catalyst for the entry of the USA into the Second World War. I think everyone's response to and feelings during and after their visit to the USS Arizona Memorial ... ...provding the history of the USS Arizona and the other battleships stationed and destroyed there.
Once the film ended we then filtered onto a boat in order to make the crossing to the memorial (it is the only way to get there). Its incredibly well organised, so there was no difficulties or hold ups getting people on board. Designed by Alfred Preis, the memorial itself looks like a floating structure which hoovers above the shallow sunken remains ...
