    Advantages Advantages historic place with great beer

    If you are a beer lover and you're planning a trip to Prague, you will be in for a real treat. The Czechs are world famous for their pilsner style beers. These golden lagers are wonderful thirst quenchers on a hot summer day. These are excellent beers but the Czechs also make several splendid dark lagers. The dark beers are also well worth Czeching out. That brings me to Pivovar U Fleku. This is one of the most famous watering holes in Prague. This brewpub was founded in 1499.     Near the Karlovo square in Kremencova is the traditional Czech beer hall and restaurant of U Fleku, named after Jakub Flekovsky who bought it in 1762. It houses the smallest brewery in Prague which makes a dark, sweet beer that is not available anywhere else. The building itself is worth a look, particularly the walled garden at the rear with its attractive frescos and enormous chestnut trees beneath which are benches where you can enjoy your ale and typical local food (beware falling fruit in the autumn!)
