Advantages: Free Scheme Disadvantages: Its Free - what more do you want!!!
...couple of years ago with United Vacations. The reservations agent advised that I should join Mileage Plus. Yeah whatever, but did it anyway.
Went to the United Airlines website and had a better look at it. United Airlines is part of the Star Alliance, the worlds leading airline alliance. The Mileage Plus scheme is obviously centred around United Airlines, but you can "earn and burn" your miles on any of the Star Alliance carriers: bmi british midland, ... ...example, I took out the United Airlines Mileage Plus Gold Card and earned an additional 6000 miles last year, recommended 3 friends to the scheme and earned 15000 miles, and 1 round trip economy to the USA gave me 8000 miles. That would have been enough to earn me a free trip with bmi british midland to Europe. There are a lot of additional offers set up mainly for US residents, such as the ability to earn with telecom companies, and at thousands ...

Advantages: Very Easy to Get free flights Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...have now been in the United F.Flyer club for three years and have been very impressed with it. I have also been in the British Airways & KLM F.Flyer programmes which aren't a patch on this one. A big advantage is that there are so many ways to collect points. Most of my points are not with flying but using partners in the Star Alliance, such as Marriott & Holiday-Inn hotels. Basically, join the Hotel chains own programme and then tell them to pass ... ...I also use a United Frequent Flyer proramme (Mileage Plus) Visa card which gives you a point for every £1 you spend. The interest rate is rubbish but I just use it for expenses and pay off the balance every month.
I have so far been on holiday to the Caribbean (Vieques Island - Puerto Rico) and New York on free flights so it definatley works. ...

Advantages: Many Airlines to collect points on the Star Alliance, Disadvantages: Rewards slightly expensive and take many flights to earn.
...states with £115, I think this is a bit of a waste and it is probably better to turn your miles in to Hilto Honours points.
5,000 United Miles = 10,000 Hilton honours points and save for something big.
Combine all those points together and get a Diamond!!!! ...
