5 Stars IT'S LIFE JIM - BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT! Review with images 18/02/2006

Advantages Advantages An 'extravaganza' everyone should experience at least once

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit pricey for a young family

Occasional visits to our daughter in the States will include jumping in their car and driving hundreds of miles across Arizona to reach a 'must see' wonder of the world (Grand Canyon) or glitzy tourist city (Las Vegas). On this occasion, we were going to be in Los Angeles just about an hour's drive from the Universal Studios. Great! The three t's: trashy, tacky and totally tasteless. Life's far to short not to have some seriously silly fun. = Location: 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, California, 91608. Located just off the 101 Hollywood Freeway at either Universal Studios Boulevard ... more

Advantages Advantages so many different rides and entertainment there is something for everyone.

Disadvantages Disadvantages i couldn't fault the place!

This summer we went to LA and stayed in Anaheim near Disneyland, but chose to go to Universal Studio's instead of Disney because im a huge film fan. We booked our tickets online beforehand and not only did we save money about $10 each (usual price is around $59.99) but we bypassed the queues at the gate aswell! We went on a Thursday so the park opened at 10 a.m ( 9 a.m - 9 p.m weekends, 10 a.m - 6 p.m weekdays) we set out early because you can guarentee traffic queues in LA. We drove North from Anaheim on the Santa Ana freeway (5) until we hit downtown LA then we got onto the Hollywood freeway ... more

Advantages Advantages plenty to do and see for all ages

Disadvantages Disadvantages a lot of walking to do

With Theme Parks threatening to take over the Earth, you could do a lot worse that take a trip to what I regard as the BEST – For all the Family UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, in the heart of Hollywood, L.A I am not a great fan of Theme Parks generally. I say that at the outset. Most seem geared to provide the scariest rides, which attract queues the length of the Great Wall of China. I don’t want to go out for the day – and spend it queuing to go on a ride that will have me spewing my guts up five minutes later. A thrill – I think not. You want a scary ride – just sit in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Studio tour a definite must

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lots of walking, food and ticket a bit expensive

My trip to Southern California included a visit to the Univeral studio. This time round, it was a lot less crowded than the summer months, but it also meant that most entertainment ended around 6 pm. The Universal studio occupies a large land area, which means they have their own postcode as well as city, called Universal city. [Getting there] It was simple because there were signs along the freeway 101 as we got closer to the Studio. This is the only route to the Studio so you can't really miss it. During summer, the freeway can get really congested but this time round, it was okay. [Parking] ... more

5 Stars Step into the Movies! Review with images 24/03/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great day out, loads to see and do!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not so good for very young children

Before I even got to LA I knew that I wanted to go to Universal Studios, I am a fan of the movies and this was an opportunity I was going to miss out on, a chance to see the sets from famous movies like Jaws and War of the Worlds, and many rides built around the movies like the Jurassic Park Ride. On entrance to the park you already feel like star with a red carpet waiting for you to walk down the excitement was overwhelming for me, this is a place I had wanted to go to for ages, it was all very well presented and immaculately clean compared to theme parks that I have been to in the UK. The ... more

“Universal Studios Hollywood is the World's largest movie studio and theme park. You can see how the magic is made, go behind the scenes, look at special effect techniques, see a working back lot and Ride The Movies!2 “Universal Studios Hollywood is located just off the Hollywood Freeway (101) at either Universal Center Drive or Lankershim Boulevard exits. The park is open daily (except Christmas) from 8am to 10pm in the summer and 9am to 6pm non-summer Mon – Fri, 9am to 7pm at weekends.” The following is a full review of the park after our visit on Saturday August 4th ... more

    Advantages Advantages fun and interesting

    Disadvantages Disadvantages souvenirs are expensive

Did you ever want to step into the television while watching your favorite movie ? In L.A. , it is possible. Films like Terminator, Jurassic Park, Rugrats, Backdraft, ... You feel like you are on the set. All the live-shows I have seen, where breathtaking. The studio tour was even more. In a little train, you are guided trough the Universal Studios, where they actually shoot the filmscenes. You get to see some incredible special effects, and meet King Kong, Jaws and many more. Queuing is over before it gets boring, because you can learn everything about your favorite actors while you wait ... more
