'''ABOUT VANCOUVER'''
Vancouver is located on the Pacific Northwest coast of Canada, and it's proximity to Asia lends a massive influence from the east. Its metropolitan population of over 2 million makes this a big city, with all the skyscrapers associated with this kind of North American city.
Downtown is made up of several distinct areas such as Gastown and Chinatown, and venturing a little further will take you to places such as Richmond, ... ...Banff and Whistler. The beautiful Vancouver Island is also close by (sadly I didn't get to go there). It isn't so far over the border to the state of Oregon in the USA, and Seattle is a short plane or longer bus, train or car journey away.
'''DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER'''
Out trip began in Vancouver, the first time either of us had been to the west coast of North America. The long flight (about 10 hours) meant that we ended up at our downtown hotel at ...

...it’s very hard to beat Vancouver for sheer breathtaking beauty. Top that with numerous parks – including the huge forest-filled Stanley Park, superb shopping, varied nightlife, cultural and sporting offerings, as well as bright modern architecture and it's pretty hard to avoid the cliche ‘there’s no place quite like this’. Having flown with both I would recommend British Airways, it’s a long flight – around 10 hours and I didn’t have a good experience with Air Canada either way but may be that can go in a separate review! ...could be. From London to Vancouver is an approximate nine hours, little more than the equivalent into Toronto or New York. We did'nt take the kids with us on this occasion, but if you are planning on doing so, I would recommend investing in a large number of sketch books, comics and even an MP3 or portable DVD player. It would be the best money you have ever spent! Regardless, moving about the cabin and stretching your legs is advisable. The service ... ...was'nt a direct flight into Vancouver available when we booked, so we had a short stop in Calgary where for some reason officials were walking about grinning happily under unfeasably large cowboy hats. The transfer was supposed to be half an hour, but there was no way in hell we could get our luggage in that sort of timeframe. As a result, we spent almost four hours in the airport waiting for a connecting flight into Vancouver. I would very much ...

In fact we did not pay for our flights at all. ... ...You will arrive at Vancouver International Airport (Hopefully!), and we actually took a bus to downtown Vancouver. We were staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel, and the bus dropped us off right at the door. This was OK, but the cost of the bus for two of us was probably the same as a taxi anyway. If there are more than two of you, definitely take the taxi option.
We travelled independently, and booked all the segments of our journey separately, however ...

Advantages: Vibrant, busy and buzzing city. Disadvantages: For me, nothing special of note in the city
I sent four days in Vancouver whilst on holiday in May / June 2007. We flew into Vancouver, sent a few nights in Seattle, then back to Vancouver before heading up to the Rockies for ten days.
I had no idea what to expect of this city. In terms of area, Vancouver is vast. We drove into the city from the south and seemed to be driving through out lying districts and suburbs forever. I visited Vancouver and Vancouver Island in June 2004, it was my first trip abroad and I did it alone.
I had got the idea of the trip from reading some British Columbia magazines that were given to me by someone in work.
After only one week of planning where I would go and the places I would visit, I booked my flight on the internet through Canadian Affair a comany I'd not heard of, but would certainly recommend.
