Varna, the Pearl on the Bulgarian Riviera!

Advantages: beautiful town, much to offer from a cultural point, good shopping
Disadvantages: none

...little more about my hometown Varna – especially since Bulgaria is becoming more and more popular as a destination among British tourists! Varna is the biggest port town on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and the third biggest town in Bulgaria with 350,000 inhabitants approximately. Varna does not only host a big port and an international airport, it is also a university town: There is a School of Economics, a tourism university, a technical university, ...
...of you might associate with Varna the beginning and the end of their vacation, since those who spend their holidays in one of the resorts on the Northern part of the Black Sea coast (i.e. Albena, Golden Sands or St. Konstantin) will arrive at and depart from Varna. But trust me, although your first impression gained on the transfer to your hotel might not be too good, Varna is definitely worth a visit! On your transfer from the airport to your hotel ...

Varna

Advantages: Nightlife, shopping, bars, restaurants
Disadvantages: Money changers on streets, Cherne more hotel

I've been to Varna twice now in 06 and enjoyed it immensely both times. From the airport it is about a 10-15 min ride so be careful not to get over charged it should cost no more than £10 but as I found out some taxi men don't seem interested in taking you for that amount, and quickly move on to their next victim. I was really lucky to find a taxi man called mikael who brought me to Varna free of charge and gave me his mobile no. in return for ...
...Being in the centre of Varna is great, apart from the amount of Bulgarians on the street pestering you to exchange currency with them. The beach is 5 minutes away which has restaurants serving excellent meals and drinks at very modest prices on it. Also further along the beach were the nightclubs which all overlook the sea with breathtaking views. The clubs play mostly dance and folk music with sunday's generally being r n b and hip hop night. There ...

Varna, a city to visit.

Advantages: Cheap, nice food.
Disadvantages: The pickpockets.

...It costs about 30p to Varna town on the bus. It is so cheap in Bulgaria that we found it difficult to spend our money. We went for two weeks and there was my Husband, daughter and myself and we only spent £380 in total. Not bad considering we were in a villa so therefore had to buy everything. The town of Varna itself is an ok town, but BEWARE when getting on the buses, as the buses have a door at the front and in the middle, when they stop and ...
...stray cats and dogs in Varna and most of the dogs are tagged, meaning that they had been neutered or sterilised, So we were told. Quite a few in and around the Baths. I would go again but I would stay in a hotel, as the Villa we stayed in was ok but could have been a lot better. There is a lot of reasons for that comment but perhaps they are best left for another day. Go to Bulgaria and enjoy the experiences as of course next year they are hoping ...

varna

Advantages: quality items available at small cost
Disadvantages: Dirty in some parts

Varna is the ideal place to shop in bulgaria. Not only is it cheap(cheaper than the resorts e.g golden sands) the items seem to be of a higher quality here. It is surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants and caffes and has a mc donalds and KFC which are all pretty cheap to eat at. But really varna centre is just like any big city unless you go on the outskirts to the beach. There are a lot of people(i presume gipsy's) wanting you to change your ...
...is about 35mins away from varna and cost around 15pounds return in a taxi. I would stronly recoment varna as a day vist on your holiday not only to shop but there is a lot of lovely buildings which will give you an insite into the history of bulgaria. Varna has its own rather small but perfectly adequate airport which took me approximatly 3hrs 20mins from manchester. From varna airport you can either stay in varna itself or stay in another resort ...
