Advantages Advantages nice food and friendly staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a bit chaotic

I have only used Virgin Atlantic once, which was at the end of last year. I flew with my young son (only nine months at the time) and my partner. We flew from Gatwick to Orlando International and then back the same way. The check-in as Gatwick was busy when we arrived in the North terminal. Even though the queue was long, we only had to wait for around 15 minutes at the most before we were fully checked in. The staff were friendly and helpful, but not always very happy looking. The flight itself was on time, though the Virgin flight before ours was delayed. As our son was only nine months at ... more

Advantages Advantages The service, the flight - everything!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

The thing to remember about Virgin Atlantic is that it is expensive, probably the most expensive airline around by quite a significant amount. Isn’t this a down side? Well yes, obviously in one sense. But in another Virgin knows that in order to keep its customers it has to do everything possible to make it that significant amount better than any other airline. It has certainly accomplished this as one can tell along every stage of the journey… From the moment you encounter Virgin representatives at the airport they are, well, smiley. Flight attendants tend to be smiley, but virgin ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use website, smooth flights, decent food, great entertainment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None in particular

Virgin Atlantic don't just fly to New York! I flew with them to Hong Kong and back last year from London Heathrow, and this review is about that experience. They also fly to Sydney, Nairobi, Delhi and assorted other places! I chose to book with them both because the return flight was one of the cheapest - around £550 return - and also because the return leg of the flight was at 11.30 at night whereas the next cheapest flight left at an early hour of the morning. This meant I effectively got an extra day in Hong Kong. I don't have much to compare the airline to as this was only the second time ... more

Advantages Advantages British. Quality. An established name and company.

Disadvantages Disadvantages They can't fly you everywhere you want. They can only fly from a few airports.

I like Virgin Atlantic. I used to do a lot of travelling with my parents back when I was just a young lad. As a family we were quite adventurous with our long haul flights; my mother is Australian and so flights around the world where never out of the question. Virgin Atlantic will not fly you around the world; they’ll fly you to the United States of America. Concorde (the fully functional kind) aside, I can’t think of a better way to make the transatlantic hop than in a Virgin plane. One of my earliest, strongest memories as a child is of a Virgin plane and the flight that ... more

Advantages Advantages Extremely helpful staff, comfortable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

I often wonder why so many people say they will not travel with anyone other than virgin Atlantic, I simply could not see why people would pay over the odds for a flight to and from the same place. After my visit to Florida flying with Virgin Atlantic I found out why. I had travelled with virgin Atlantic before as a child when I went to Los Angles with my family. I don't remember the experience that well as I was only 10, all I remembered of the flight was being extremely travel sick and the little bag of goodies they give children when they board the flight. When we booked up to go to Florida ... more

Advantages Advantages Helps to minimise fear of flying, fantastic airline

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still frightened (didn't cure it completely)

I’ve been a nervous flyer for many years, but I only became seriously terrified 18 months ago when the plane (Virgin Atlantic) I was travelling in dropped out of the sky. At the time, we were two hours into a flight across the Atlantic and the aircrew were serving dinner. All that separated us from the deep sea and sharks were 35,000 feet of night sky. Suddenly, the engines were screaming, the plane was shaking violently and the sea was approaching very rapidly. The airplane plunged out of the sky, the metal trolley lifted off the ground and bottles of wine flew into the air. I always thought ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit pricey

I have read a few reviews recently on Virgin Atlantic which have been quite positive so I've decided to write about my experiences with Virgin Atlantic which will also be positive as for me, Virgin Atlantic are a great airline whom I would most of the time always choose to travel with. As we all know Virgin is part of the Virgin Group (which includes entities such as Virgin records, Virgin holidays, Virgin money etc) owned and founded by the entrepreneur Richard Branson. I could write a whole review about the man himself, a very interesting individual who has dyslexia and left school at ... more

    Advantages Advantages Entertainment and Variety

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only the usual lack of space suffered on any aircraft

The prospect of going any distance abroad usually fills you with dread. Not necessarily because you’re scared of flying (although I know that will apply to some of you)but because you know that (unless you’re loaded and can afford first class every time) you’ve got a few hours ahead of you where you are cramped into a tiny seat, almost sitting on the lap of the person next to you, having no leg room whatsoever and being served with abysmal food. However, Virgin is a delight to fly with. They don’t have particularly bigger planes or give you much more room but they are ... more

Advantages Advantages comfortable, great service, get a little goody bag

Disadvantages Disadvantages is a bit more expensive than some other airlines

We went to New York with Virgin Atlantic and I have to say that they were fantastic. Now in the past we’ve been economy class squeeze them in customers. We’ve been on flights where there is so little legroom that most of the people are up and down like yo-yos to try and ward of the dangers of deep vein thrombosis. We got a four day package break to New York with virgin holidays which cost £445 for the flight and hotel. So it was quite a reasonable price for the flight. My partner is a vegan so when we booked it we were transferred to virgin Atlantic to book food, because understandably he’s ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of space, friendly staff, good food

Disadvantages Disadvantages I didn't have any problems

Earlier this year I travelled from Manchester to Florida. It was a late package deal, and initially I was concerned the flight would be a 9 hour chore I had to endure in order to get to the fun part of the holiday. I couldn't have been more wrong! We arrived at the airport and boarded the plane on time, first good point being no delays. The staff were very friendly and helpful when directing us to our seats and very informative about the flight before we took off. The first thing I noticed was the amount of leg room in the seats. It was by far the most space I have ever experienced while ... more
