Advantages: Modern Disadvantages: No signal, delayed, noisy, unclean
...seat is booked for, but Virgin have modernised themselves! They have LCD screens above each seat holding the same information as the little paper slips! And there was a luggage cart in the centre of carriage, which I feel is quite useful, for paranoid people such as myself! I did notice how narrow the aisles were on this train though, I could barely fit through with my suitcase, I was not happy! Nothing was extremely tormenting with the journey, ... ...was pulling to a hault! I thought this was attrocious!
If I had a choice to use either Virgin trains, or another service, no way would I favour Virgin! Luckily for me, I was not with this appauling train service on the way back to Aberdeen the following week! ...

Advantages: Comfortable in a lot of ways Disadvantages: Expensive food!
...did find some text on Virgin train standards and they mentioned how they would try to ensure at least 90% of their trains would arrive on time (Why is it so many people have complained about lateness - surely the statistics are reading that 90% of trains are NOT turning up on time?!)
Booking online is really easy once you register (Which takes about 1 minute and half) and my father recently bought a ticket from Salisbury-Newcastle with 1 change ... ...and service i recieved.
Virgin trains are one of the most used train companies in Europe known as the 'West coast mainline service' connecting Glasgow and Edinburgh with England and Wales. They have a Cross-country network which carries passengers from Aberdeen to Penzance and Brighton to North Wales which they have aligned new trains for which have a tilting mechanism which allows an extra 6 degrees tilt allowing them to lean around curves up to ...

Advantages: Investing in the future, cleaner trains, helpful staff Disadvantages: it all takes time!
I wrote about virgin trains some time ago, when I was in Liverpool - since then I have moved to Leeds and got a girlfriend in Bristol. I guess you could say I am a regular user now!
I am still really pleased with the service - sure at peak times the services can run behind time, but when I can get a ticket return to Bristol for £16.50 with booked seats - who am I to complain? In all honesty, I think the hardest part of traveling with virgin is the ... ...the only one who thinks Virgin are actually OK?
Am I the only one who realises that most of their problems are beyond their control?
I am speaking from the perspective of somebody who grew up on the West Coast line, and then went to Uni in Liverpool - I have used that line for years and here is something you don't often hear people admitting...
Before the line was run by Virgin, the service was pretty poor... trains WERE overcrowded and ran late ...

Advantages: I haven't noticed any Disadvantages: Delays, no explanation, stupid timetables, overpriced food
...snackfoods sold on the train. Virgin Trains must have made a huge profit out of these people, as a direct result of their own incompetence.
I'm sure there must be some way of getting my money back because of this, and probably claiming my taxi fare off them too. If anyone knows how, please write a comment on this review saying how to do this.
Thanks for reading. ...

I use Virgin Trains to travel to work everyday between Devon and Bristol Temple Meads.
THE GOOD POINTS
The trains are in excellent condition and very comfortable, it's great to have more leg room than the older HSTs, and the option to be able to use your laptop, charge your mobile phone etc.
There is also the on train entertainment system, which in general is great, especially when you've forgotten your MP3 or iPOD.
THE NOT SO GOOD POINTS
Although ... ...however, alot of the time Virgin only put on 4 coaches, rather than 5. This really makes for an uncomfortable trip early in the week when people are catching the early train home and on Friday with people travelling down to the South West.
Cost of tickets is not great, however this is in line with the rest of the industry. Realiability for Virgin Trains is not the greatest at all, it seems as though they don't really need an excuse to make a train ...

Advantages: travel Disadvantages: slow, dirty, delayed, lack of information
...have been forced to use virgin trains for the last few years becasue of lack of a car. Over the period of June till Oct last year (ie before the Hatfield crash) the service was still a disaster. I travelled the 3 and a half hour journey from Crewe to Exeter 6/7 times. Out of these times I can say I did not arrive once on time or without some kind of problem. The main things I got annoyed about were the constant delays and the lack of information ... ...I have written to Virgin about my companints and about 3 months later I simply got a 'sorry' letter, I wasnt very impressed!
I am sick to death of the virgin trains and the recent news that they are increasing their fares is a joke! They really need to sort themselves out, especially recently they seem to ahve got even worse (if this is possible!) and they are now charging higher prices, the trains are even later and im very fed up! ...

...picc to london euston on virgin trains - the service is just ridiculous. our train was declared a failure forty five minutes after it was due to leave even though it had been sat on the station for over half an hour before it was due to leave. The train manager said that we would be able to speak to her - but guess what she disappeared. we were told to get on the next train but guess what well it didn't turn up so we were told to get on a train to ... ...the politest people on the train. we eventually arrived in London and have since put in a complaint to virgin about this service to which they siad there would be a reply in 7-10 days and we still have heard nothing. i'll let you know if we eventually here something????? ...

Advantages: Ease of travel, friendly and helpful stewards Disadvantages: Not nationwide unfortunately
Everyone slags of Virgin Trains....Well I DON'T!!! When I was 7 1/2 months pregnant, I travelled on Virgin Trains, with my two young kids, and the service I received was amazing! Never before has a steward, searched for somewhere for us all to sit. (She found us sat on our luggage next to a door on the train, as I couldn't manage to carry our luggage, and manage the kids down the aisle of a moving train) She found us a seat with a table, carried ... ...a different steward approached me, and asked if everything was OK. I asked him to sit with the kids, whilst I went to the loo, he did, I came back and he was playing with them!!! There are a few more tales I could tell, but I don't wanna bore you! To end, never before have I been treated like a human being on a train, specially not on any BR owned ones anyway!!! AND, the train was running on time too! A big thumbs up to Virgin! ...

...quite a few times with Virgin from newcastle on the cross country route to Birmingham, Derby and Sheffield etc.Delays do vary and what I find a lot is either the trains are delayed by a few minutes or they are delayed by hours. For some reason they never get delays in between this time scale....odd!!!

Virgin trains are not all bad and I should know i use them from the northwest to London at least once a month.
