...Leith Walk. There are two Vittoria restaurants in Edinburgh, the other being in George Street. The particular one we went to was situated very close to the Edinburgh Playhouse and the Omni centre. If we had left our tea any later, we would have been plagued by the crowds of people coming out from a show at 8pm, and so we were pretty glad we had decided to dine when we had.
THE RESTAURANT
First impressions are vital to me, when it comes to dining ... ...green sign. The sign read Vittoria Restaurant and then stated the telephone number. Outside, as with many restaurants and cafe's in Edinburgh, there were outside tables, however when we arrived it was full and so even if we had wanted to dine outside, it wouldn't have been possible. Revisiting Vittoria’s restaurant last Friday was a blast from the past for me. We used to eat there every Friday lunchtime in my last job, so it’s a place of memories, and a place where bitching was once rife. (and probably still is!)
Although the official address is Brunswick Place, I tend to think of it as being right in the middle of Leith Walk, which was very convenient for our office but not very for anyone in the rest of Edinburgh. Having ... ...from both the new Omni Complex in Edinburgh, and the Playhouse theatre.
Vittoria’s is one of those Italian restaurants where the food is 110 per cent authentic, and because of that, you don’t mind the lack of almost anything else. Before a fire and it’s recent refurbishment, it was a pretty tatty looking joint on the inside, but now it is clean and bright, although still not the most comfortable or luxurious restaurant you’ve ever been in.
