Advantages: Great rooms, lovely food Disadvantages: Slightly stingey portions at dinner!
...difficult. I'd seen the Waterhead Hotel when visiting Ambleside last Christmas and was reminded that I'd always wanted to stay there. My husband booked the hotel as a surprise so we could have a couple of days away.
The hotel is gorgeous! It's in a great location overlooking the lake and it's a good size - it's a medium-sized hotel - so it has all the amenities you'd want to see but still feels small and friendly. The decor of our room was really ... ...a photo of a hotel room on the website and actually thought the room itself was BETTER. The room had a (tasteful!) fake open fire, a huge bed, a lovely bathroom with a brilliant shower, lots of storage space, real coffee, fresh fruit and complementary gingerbread (which was gorgeous). You get complementary access to a fitness centre, which we didn't use.
We had dinner in the hotel on the Friday night and the staff were brilliant about the baby - ...
