Advantages: good convinient location, exceptionally clean, very good price Disadvantages: A bit dated, very busy, staff are not always available
...difficult choice. We chose The Wellington Hotel. I thought it was the right decision when I booked it and as soon as I saw the hotel I knew I had made the right decision. The outside of the hotel looks impressive and you can see the lights from Times Square which is really cosy and inviting.
Walking through the reception a massive chandelier greets you which gives a magical feeling to your visit. It was quite a nice surprise to see the chandelier ... ...like the theatre then The Wellington Hotel is in a prime location in the middle of Manhattan Hotels very close to Broadway theatres. New York is a fascinating City with much to do and see. New York City is both exciting and interesting. There are many hotels and youth hostels in New York City, but The Wellington Hotel is certainly a very inviting hotel that is close to most amenities.

Advantages: Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi
...to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its ... ...Central Park and 5 minutes from Times Square and is located on the corner of 55th Street and 7th Avenue. The placement of the hotel was my favourite thing about it as it was just so easy to walk to some of the city's best attractions from here. When we checked in the reception desk had 3 members of staff on hand so there was no queue and all the staff that I encountered very pleasant and always happy to help, bell hops were always on hand during ...

...from 4 nights in The Wellington Hotel. We booked it back in Jan'07 thru an online hotel booking site (I may have mentioned it in other reviews) We also booked flights directly with BA thru their website. We had stayed in NewYork about 2 years ago in a YMCA in the upper westside. However as my oldies were coming with us we had to book a hotel.
We booked a suite at The Wellington for around £780 for 4 adults for 4 nights and the BA flights from ABZ ... ...cinnamon do-nuts are to die for and they keep you going till lunchtime or beyond! Would we stay at The Wellington Hotel again? Yes without question.
I will be reviewing other aspects of our trip in time, such as Gordon Ramseys new restaurant. Maze at The London. ...

Advantages: Location, food available downstairs Disadvantages: Room was small and needed updating
I stayed at the Wellington hotel on my second trip to New York, and the decision was based on a recommendation from the Travel Agent. There were a few people in reception when we arrived and it took about half an hour to be checked in. We had booked one double room and one twin room for our party but were told that there was no twin rooms available so we would have to have a double with a foldaway bed, which someone would bring to the room. When ... ...on it as it seemed to be about 30 years old and ready to collapse at any minute. Fortunately I was staying with my sister so it wasn't really a huge problem that we shared a double bed. I wasn't really happy with the room itself, it was small and the view was of an apartment building not even the street. It was in dire need of updating in the bathroom with rusty pipes clearly visible underneath the sink, and the tiles needing either replacing or ...

Advantages: Central Location Disadvantages: Room Size
We stayed here in Feb 2008 after booking through an online travel company. We booked our flights with another online company. We were very happy with this mid-range hotel. It has an impressive exterior but we were slightly disappointed with the room sizes and the staff were not overly friendly - constant tipping required in return for information!
The hotel is ideally located 10 mins from Times Square and 5 mins from Central Park. There is an amazing ... ...a long day out for a quick bite to eat.
We were offered an upgrade on arrival and the room was average - not very clean but somewhere to rest after a day's sightseeing and shopping. Make sure you take a bus tour and give the outlet village a miss! ...

Advantages: Location, Location, Location :-) Disadvantages: Tired and Dated Hotel :-(
We booked up The Wellington Hotel for Seven Nights on the Alpharooms website (cheapest we could find) for two people it came to £920; which is a good price for a week in a mid-range hotel in NYC.
Most of the reviews read favourably, indicating that the main advantage of staying here was its location on 7th Ave/55th St.
Upon entering the Hotel we were greeted with a HUGE grand looking chandelier, lighting up the reception area. The staff were pleasant ... ...Queen Room instead of the Double we'd previously booked, without us even having to ask!
Our room was located on the 9th floor (923 if you're interested!) But upon entering the lifts to head up to our room we got an inkling as to what was in store. It's a very tired, old hotel in desperate need of a makeover. The elevators are very slow (you can be waiting an age at busy times). The room we were allocated was clean and tidy, but felt dark and pretty ...

I really enjoy travelling around the world, and one thing that I have come to like is staying in a hotel that is central to the place I am visiting. Well, I can definitely say that this hotel is centered in the middle of new york city and close to all of the attractions. For a start, this hotel is great value for money and you will certainly get what you paid for, no doubt. I thought that the quality of service from the staff was excellent, and were ...

Advantages: Simple, quite cheap for New York Disadvantages: Not very modern
...2006, and for me the Wellington Hotel was a great choice!
As I was 18 and it was just me and my partner, we wanted something cheap and cheerful. In the end (including flights) we paid £1,300 for 5 days, which is quite cheap for New York. When we arrived, everyone is really helpful and offer to take your bags to your room (although n.b. you do have to pay tips!). The rooms are really good value and you get the usual tv, kettle, maSSive bed and good ... ...To sum up, the Wellington Hotel is great for the value, not very modern compared to some hotels, but staff are friendly and rooms get cleaned everyday etc. etc. Just one thing - if you use a shuttle bus to get back to the airport, book it at reception a few days before. I just presumed they turned up and spent loads getting a taxi. ...
