Advantages Advantages good convinient location, exceptionally clean, very good price

Disadvantages Disadvantages A bit dated, very busy, staff are not always available

Most people know New York City as the city that never sleeps or the big apple. Whatever you name New York City it is the largest city in America and has much to offer visitors all around the world. Traveling to New York gave me the opportunity to explore this wonderful City. There is so much to do and see that I was never bored. Travelling through New York is easy as most places are within walking distance and if not you can get a tube or bus. There are many hotels to choose from and finding the right one can be a difficult choice. We chose The Wellington Hotel. I thought it was the right ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Location, Clean and Friendly Staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Views from hotel itself not great, no free wi fi

My boyfriend turned 30 a few weeks ago and for his present I booked us a trip to New York and the Wellington Hotel is where I picked for us to stay due to its central location in Manhattan. Last Wednesday we flew out to NYC and checked into the Wellington. If you didn't know already this is where part of the Borat film was made, the main scene being where he tries to unpack his things in the lift thinking its his room and so many Borat jokes ensued in the elevators during our stay. The location of the hotel is amazing, its a 1 minute walk from Carnegie Hall, 2 minutes from Central Park and 5 ... more

Advantages Advantages Location, freindly helpful staff

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bit tired/dated

We are just back from 4 nights in The Wellington Hotel. We booked it back in Jan'07 thru an online hotel booking site (I may have mentioned it in other reviews) We also booked flights directly with BA thru their website. We had stayed in NewYork about 2 years ago in a YMCA in the upper westside. However as my oldies were coming with us we had to book a hotel. We booked a suite at The Wellington for around £780 for 4 adults for 4 nights and the BA flights from ABZ cost around £1,200 for the 4 of us. We arrived at JFK around 1600hrs and after clearing immigration and a lenghty taxi journey we ... more

Advantages Advantages Location, food available downstairs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Room was small and needed updating

I stayed at the Wellington hotel on my second trip to New York, and the decision was based on a recommendation from the Travel Agent. There were a few people in reception when we arrived and it took about half an hour to be checked in. We had booked one double room and one twin room for our party but were told that there was no twin rooms available so we would have to have a double with a foldaway bed, which someone would bring to the room. When it arrived there was no way I would be sleeping on it as it seemed to be about 30 years old and ready to collapse at any minute. Fortunately I was ... more

    Advantages Advantages Central Location

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Room Size

We stayed here in Feb 2008 after booking through an online travel company. We booked our flights with another online company. We were very happy with this mid-range hotel. It has an impressive exterior but we were slightly disappointed with the room sizes and the staff were not overly friendly - constant tipping required in return for information! The hotel is ideally located 10 mins from Times Square and 5 mins from Central Park. There is an amazing deli opposite the hotel which I would highly recommend after a long day out for a quick bite to eat. We were offered an upgrade on arrival and ... more

Advantages Advantages Location, Location, Location :-)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tired and Dated Hotel :-(

We booked up The Wellington Hotel for Seven Nights on the Alpharooms website (cheapest we could find) for two people it came to £920; which is a good price for a week in a mid-range hotel in NYC. Most of the reviews read favourably, indicating that the main advantage of staying here was its location on 7th Ave/55th St. Upon entering the Hotel we were greeted with a HUGE grand looking chandelier, lighting up the reception area. The staff were pleasant and helpful when checking us in, upgrading us to a Queen Room instead of the Double we'd previously booked, without us even having to ask! Our ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing

I really enjoy travelling around the world, and one thing that I have come to like is staying in a hotel that is central to the place I am visiting. Well, I can definitely say that this hotel is centered in the middle of new york city and close to all of the attractions. For a start, this hotel is great value for money and you will certainly get what you paid for, no doubt. I thought that the quality of service from the staff was excellent, and were really helpful with everything, especially the cleaners who cleaned my room every day. The downstairs restaurante was also brilliant. It served ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple, quite cheap for New York

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very modern

I went to New York back in January 2006, and for me the Wellington Hotel was a great choice! As I was 18 and it was just me and my partner, we wanted something cheap and cheerful. In the end (including flights) we paid £1,300 for 5 days, which is quite cheap for New York. When we arrived, everyone is really helpful and offer to take your bags to your room (although n.b. you do have to pay tips!). The rooms are really good value and you get the usual tv, kettle, maSSive bed and good view over central park (depending which side your on). The hotel also has a little restaurant next door that ... more

    Advantages Advantages location, price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages busy, bathroom

Stayed in this hotel for a short trip away last year and it met all my requirements. What was most impressive was the location - short walking distance from Times Square, great restaurants nearby and a tube close. The price was fantastic for this location. A nice surprise was when we turned up we got upgraded from a double to a king size for no additional cost! The staff were mostly very nice- helped booking with taxi and gave recommendations on where to visit. One problem we had was the hairdryer. My wife used for the first time and it immediatly started to smell of burning and stopped ... more
