West Midlands Safari and Leisure Park During the October half term this week, trying to find something to entertain the whole family, whilst also being undercover should the weather turn chilly or rainy proved to be a bit of a mission. The cinema or bowling can only amuse you for a couple of hours, and so we decided to make a day of it and chose to visit the West Midland Safari Park. Getting there and Opening Times For reference, the winter opening dates are: 6, 12, 13, 19 & 20 November; daily from 26 Nov - 24 Dec 2011 and then every weekend from 31 Dec until 5 Feb 2012. The address for Sat ... more

Advantages Advantages Superb rides and safari to enjoy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wish the monkey enclosure was back

The West Midlands Safari park opened in 1973. The park has got a 4 mile safari and this contains over 600 animals from around 30 different species from Europe, Africa, Asia and others. They have a theme park as well which is next to the safari park as well. They have a reptile and insect house as well which IS easy for people to view and a sea lion area. Some of the animals in the safari are on the endangered list such as the jumping rat. This park contains 15 white lions which is the largest amount in the entire United Kingdom. My Experience -------------------- I have been to this safari ... more

5 Stars A Fantastic Family Fun Day Review with images 01/06/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Family friendly, wonderful mix of animals, loads to see and do, educational and fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gift shops were a let down, no monkeys, overly priced food and drinks

With it being my eldest 8th Birthday last week he had the choice of where he wanted to go for a day out, he ultimately chose the Safari Park as he loves seeing animals. We looked it up on the internet so we could make sure of the opening times and what we needed to take and so chose a good day and headed off. ~~ARRIVING~~ We arrived at the park at just before 10am which was good as it opened at 10, we joined the queues which were forming next to the 4 payment booths and sat and waited. As we were waiting we had people walking around the queuing cars selling colour booklet telling you all about ... more

5 Stars Have you ever wanted to see a Hippo? Review with images 23/02/2007

Advantages Advantages Fantastic animals on show

Disadvantages Disadvantages Food/souvenier prices are extortionate

When my husband and I first moved from Cornwall to Herefordshire I experienced a few weeks of homesickness, which made me tearful whenever I saw anything that reminded me of home. I turned on the TV one night and the BBC Coast series was on and they were featuring Cornwall. I couldn't hold my composure and I burst into a flood of tears. I wasn't unhappy that we'd moved, but I felt like an alien in our new home town and needed time to get used to the new way of life and surroundings. My husband was concerned and tried his best to cheer me up by taking me on trips to Wales, but seeing the sea ... more

    Advantages Advantages Fun Day Out

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive without the clubcard vouchers.

Thanks to the Clubcard Vouchers.... The kids are on school half term holidays, so I thought it would be a good time to go to the West Midlands Safari Park, even though it has been my experience in the past that during weekends and school holidays the place is crowded to say the least. I was happy to have some Clubcard vouchers to cover the cost of entry into the park. Entry to the park used to be covered by the "days out" vouchers, but now clubcard do specific vouchers for the Safari Park. Adult tickets cost £14.99 and Child Tickets cost £12.99, so I was glad that I got in free thanks to the ... more

3 Stars My Safari :o) Review with images 18/07/2010

Advantages Advantages Nice day out, family fun, friendly

Disadvantages Disadvantages Overpriced, smells, lack of maintenance

I have recently returned from a short break from down my parents caravan in Bromyard, and whilst there me and my partner visited a few places nearby. One of the places on our ‘to visit list’ was the West Midlands Safari Park. Animals, theme park attractions and severe rain (on and off) a great day out! About West Midland Safari Park: The safari park first opened back in 1973 and is a drive through animal reserve which is just over four miles long and will take a round one hour and fifteen minutes to drive through the reserve, on a busy day this could take longer. (It took us about one hour for ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads to do, great value, lots of different animals

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The weather!!

We were trying to think of ways to entertain the kids in the Easter Holidays and came up with the idea of visiting the Safari Park. I hadn't been to one since I was a kid and could remember loving it, with the monkeys climbing all over the car and trying to pull the wipers off!! So I had a look on the internet for our closest one, and found West Midlands Safari Park. The biggest plus points of this safari park for me were one, no monkeys to wreck our car! Two, they took Tesco Clubcard Deal vouchers as payment for the entrance fee. I always exchange my vouchers as it saves me a fortune if we ... more

5 Stars A ROARING DAY OUT! Review with images 19/08/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages FUN FOR ALL AGES

Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE - UNLESS YOU LIVE MILES AWAY

I am a huge animal lover – I’m especially fond of cats, big and small. Last week my eldest niece came to stay, she’s 12 and also an animal lover. Well, me and my boyfriend were thinking of places where we could go for a day out and we decided that West Midlands Safari Park would be a great idea – we’d been there before and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves so we thought ‘why not?’ So, immediately I had a look on their website which is full of excellent information about the park. This made me even more excited than I already was! The website is www.wmsp.co.uk We set off early-ish. Well, we planned ... more

5 Stars Go wild in the west midlands Review with images 22/05/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Fantastic day out for all the family

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe prices but it is no more expensive than other days out

~West midlands safari park~ I have visited the safari park quite a few times. It is a fun day out and you won’t get bored as there is loads to see and do. Don’t be put off if you have a nice car because there are not monkeys or animals that will destroy your window wipes or aerials. I would also recommend that you take a snack in the car for the drive around the park as sometimes it can take up to 2 hrs depending on how busy it is. I live in Leicestershire so it is a bit of a drive to get there but well worth a visit especially if you have children. West midlands safari park is located in ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for families, plenty to do, not bad value for money.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The queues!

As it's the Easter holidays myself and 4 friends decided we'd have a day out, as we live in Stoke- on- Trent we thought about the usual places, Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, but we decided upon West Midlands Safari Park as going to a theme park is very expensive and you're constantly paying out once inside too. Entering the park and paying: When we arrived at about half past 11 the queues for the ticket booths were quite long, the car was ushered into a row by workers at the park and we were offered a programme for £2. Although the queue appeared to be long we only had to wait about 5 or 10 ... more
