Summary Whistler is a purpose built resort for having fun, lots of summer activities are avaliable in August and the hotels are of a good quality. Resturants are sparse, but the quality is very good. I highly recommend the 'Araxi', but if you are on a budget 'The Spaghetti factory' is the place for you. Just remmber to book either before you go. ...biased! I went to Whistler a group of friends, we stayed in a chalet with a hot tub. This was my first time skiing out of Europe. I have been to several ski resorts in Europe and to Vail in Colorado but none of them compare with Whistler. There was fantastic snow, lovely light fluffy power and excellent off-piste and gladed routes, as well as fun parks, adding much more variety to the skiing. The people were fantastic, not like France where every ...
...All the people were really laid back and friendly on the lifts. There were plenty of piste maps about on the slopes, so no need to worry when you have a bit of a fall and your map gets buried in a drift. The lifties went out of their way to help you if you asked them for info. There were info boards in helpful places giving you plenty of information about which lifts and runs were open. Every one speaks English, the only downside I can think of ...

...mountains to ski on - Whistler and neighbouring Blackcomb. The nightlife is good with lots of bars dotted around the new, but compact town. But with all the high-rises going up it is in danger of becoming too developed. Also, the ancient forest around Whistler is being logged at an alarming rate, which detracts from the beauty of the surroundings. ...at least their Canadian cousins). Whistler provides some excellent runs and is particularly good for intermediate skiers, although skiers of all abilities will find plenty here. Whistler is a popular resort with the Japanese and the available cuisene reflects this if you fancy a sushi then here's your chance.
