    Advantages Advantages Good decent products

Disadvantages Disadvantages The stores aren't that BIG

Where would we all be without a Woolworths in our lives!? Woolworths is such a useful shop to me and my family and I'm sure many people would agree with me! The shop sells products that range from sweets to music to kitchen ware to clothes! Many stores are situated around our country and you will most probably find a store in nearly any town you visit! The stores are all really clean and take up a lot of space so each product is easy to find. The stores are usually split into main sections such as FOOD AND DRINK, CLOTHES AND SHOES, MUSIC AND VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT, STATIONARY, KITCHEN APPLIANCES ... more

Advantages Advantages Wonderful range of goods

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tacky - the Morecambe of high street shops

When I was a little kid, I used to love going to Woolworth’s – for me, it was the pinnacle of the shopping experience. How times change! Woolworth’s is hell on earth for everyone concerned – adults, kids and the staff themselves. It’s one huge big confused mess of a store with products spilling out into the aisle, crammed in as tightly as possible and topped off with a unique ‘smell’ which I will describe here as ‘Ode de Woolies’. One thing I cannot pull Woolies up on is variety. They’ve got Cd’s, games, videos, kids clothes ... more

Advantages Advantages Good range of products, FANTASTIC prices on CD's DVD's etc, clean well lit store, easy accessibility for Physically challenged, a good range of products

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the cheapest for confectionery, annoying queueing system which is like the Post office-but then again you can't have everything.

Woolworths is one of the stores I remember going into back in 1969 at the age of six for my parents to buy me a birthday present. Since then , they relocated the store into the Mander Centre which was up until ten years ago the biggest in Europe. They downsized the premesis massivly though, having lost two floors to Boots and squeezing everything into the one floor. I spoke to a member of staff on this issue who told me that Woolworths had the same turnover as before with massivly reduced overheads so in that sense it made good business sense. Woolworths used to be a cramped, poorly lit store ... more

Advantages Advantages High Street locations, range of products

Disadvantages Disadvantages cluttered displays/only deals in minimum of each range

Woolworth's appears to have been around for ever. Certainly it has been a permanent fixture in most high streets for many years. This I think could be the problem. I had a good look around my local store yesterday and couldn't help thinking that the best way to describe it would be the retail equivalent of 'jack of all trades and master of none'. In actual fact I feel that the whole concept of Woolworths has somehow been stuck in a time warp of about 20 years ago. They, on the face of it, offer a huge range of goods for sale. However, when you start to look a little deeper, I think you will find ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

We have quite a big ‘Woolworths’ near our house, and because of that I think it’s such a good high street shop. It has a huge variety of things in stock, I was quite surprised to find they even sold baby clothes. The shops are very well organised, with all the music section in one place, the sweets and magazines in one area, the baby clothes and items at the back, the gifts/presents in another area. The reason I like shopping at ‘Woolworths’ is because it’s so spacious, and airy. I, hate places which just cramp things together, and more that two people ... more

    Advantages Advantages great prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages bare rooted plants can be tricky

If you are looking to buy shrubs or bare rooted trees for your garden this year I would suggest Woolworths as your first port of call. Although offers vary slightly from store to store generally they have bargains such as bare rooted apple trees for £7.99 .Likewise Pears and peaches too up to £9.99. I bought a hardy grape vine ( blanc sauvigon) for £2.99 in good health too what a bargain. After over twenty years in the gardening industry believe me when I say this is very good value indeed. I know bare rooted trees and shrubs are normally a little cheaper than the container grown counterparts ... more

    Advantages Advantages Range

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Identity and image

A trip to woolworths is well worth it. Or so they like to tell us. I cannot say that woolworths is worth going to, I mean it isn't the nicest place to shop and it certainly doesn't sell the highest quality products, but, it has nearly everything in it! There are some aspects of Woolworths that I don't like: The shop layout and design, the colours (It should be in a dark blue colour - more classy) and I don't think that the staff are that friendly: I bought something for £20 and they didn't say a single word! But there are also things that I think are very good about Woolworths. There is a ... more

Advantages Advantages Chart material at reasonable Prices

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Small selection

I once read that a third of all Cds in Britain were sold by Woolworths. This is a very scary thought when you conider that in most of their storestheir stock is split between top twenty orientated (is that the right word, let me know as my grammar . spelling is not that good), and budget Cds. Their budget range usually has some hidden gems. In betwenn the rubbishy sixties compilations and Andrew Lloyd Webber cover versions I've managed to pick up some excellent ska and rock compilations as well as some unusual Best Ofs (Nick Lowe, Fun Boy 3, Buddy Holly etcetera). As well as this can get get ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages non@all

Woolworth’s is absolutely brilliant in my view, there is such a good range and like the advert says you really do forget what you went in for. It sells things like videos, magazines, clothes, gifts. The stores seems to get better and better, the quality is just as good. You can go and buy CD’s which include the latest ones and some really good old albums. I went in on Saturday originally for a CD, but when I went in I saw their new stock and I ended up buying more than what I came in for. They have a wide range of gifts so I thought why not buy some now that I am here. I like the ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of them , good quality , large selection of.... everything

Disadvantages Disadvantages most of them are quite small

Woolworths is just unbeatable , it sells everything , they do deals on everything , they are everywhere , theyre very cheap and everyone gets one thing or another . It is also my favourite shop apart from my local blockbuster as it has a seperate video games shop inside where you can get games for cheaper than ebay . Video Games Woolworths has all the latest games for gamecube , PS2 and Xbox . They also have many deals such as Driver3 for £35(rrp £40) . They also have charts ranging from no.1 to no.20 , they also have some older games , that are still popular . Woolworths is one of the best ... more
