I will fly with you at any time

Advantages: Much cheaper than other airlines
Disadvantages: None

Late last year I received an email stating that Flybe were introducing a new service from Southampton to Newcastle and I just literally jumped for joy. You see I had been paying £154 to travel this route with Eastern Airways and that was the cheapest price I could get! So, as far as I was concerned, competition on this route would be good – especially for the customers. I hadn’t actually used Flybe (as far as I can remember anyway) for any travel ...
...of personal experience with the transactions of this airline. So, straightaway, I logged onto their site - http://www1.flybe.com - which is very colourful. Their homepage gives a section with the latest news, for example, “Go ski with flybe” and you just click onto the relevant section and read what they have to offer. Car hire, hotels, parking (saving of up to 50%), insurance, win gift vouchers, 75% off perfume and onboard duty free plus all your ...

Maybe not again

Advantages: Cheap, good legroom
Disadvantages: Customer service as always

When my wife's stepdad announced he was getting married again we were both pleased and concerned at the same time. It was not his choice of partner that worried us, more how we were to cover the largish distance between Southampton and Lanark in Scotland for the big day. As Mrs Cad would be 27 weeks pregnant on the date of the wedding and she was having trouble sitting for long periods we had to think through our options carefully. The land route ...
...Bournemouth to Prestwick. So I was given the task of finding an airline that would get us the right side of Hadrian's wall for the following criteria. Not too expensive, an aisle seat for Mrs Cad and airports as close to our start and finish points as possible. After scrubbing out Lyingair and my favourite airline BA as unreliable or too expensive we ended up with Flybe. Booking was completed by me online and was relatively straight forward. It ...

Return-flight: Glasgow-Birmingham-Salzburg

Advantages: Friendly, cheap(ish), many destinations
Disadvantages: Delayed departures on most flights

As a frequent flyer i am constantly looking for bargain flights to my favourite destinations. This time i chose Fly.BE - for the first time. Last week i flew from Glasgow to Salzburg return. I was told that this flight would stop in Birmingham for approx. 3 hours, which was fine with me. My main reason for chosing this airline was, that i didn't have to check in again for the second flight. Me being pregnant and flying alone, i thought it would ...
...cost me approx. £200 pounds return incl. taxes, which is still cheaper than most of the other flights offered to Austria. I booked it over the internet which was swift and convenient. One negative point regarding the price: A week after booking the flight i had to call the customer service centre to change my return date and therefore i was charged an additional £115, which was too pricey for my taste. So off i went to the airport in Glasgow. ...

Flybe.........no alternative really!

Advantages: Local departures
Disadvantages: George Best Airport access problems in Belfast

...relaxed and care free! Flybe.com website is simple to navigate and if you have a little notice of your trip fares are incredible, dont leave it to the last week however as there is that "compulsory" inflationary price hike the closer you get to your departure date from your booking date! They have a good inflight magazine (free) although the snacks are pricey, and a variety of business partners offering discounts such as hotels and car hire (avis), ...
...As a budget airline, theis is the best that I have travelled with and is a reasonable attempt at good service given the deficiencies of the alternatives! Please consider not charging extra for luggage and give George Best airport the ditch for Belfast International which is a far superior airport in my opinion. ...

Flybe but not with your bags

Advantages: Clean aircraft
Disadvantages: Incompetent baggage handling and tracing

Flew with Flybe for the first time at the end of March - NEVER again!!! Arrived at Edinburgh en-route to Manchester. My wife & I changed flights from BA to Flybe. Our bags were checked all the way through and Flybe told us that if there was any problems with our bags they would tannoy us. No such announcements but when we arrived in Manchester our bags hadn't!! Reported missing bags immediately but details couldn't be put on the computer system as ...
...all in the lost bags. 2 days later we arrived in Tunisia with what we were wearing and toothbrushes and toothpaste. Naively expecting our bags at any moment. No such luck! We spent our holiday having to wear the same items day and day out - much to our embarassment. It now seems that Flybe received our bags in Edinburgh but lost them, found them, got them ready to send to us - and then LOST THEM AGAIN!!! On our return journey, when we checked in ...

nothin' special: They are stuck in the middle

Advantages: new, comfortable aircraft, monopoliees at important hubs, good online check-in facility
Disadvantages: Very expensive, aggresive and arrogant towards competition, cold

To be honest, I believe Flybe is an overpriced, "semi-frills, semi non-frills" airline that wishes to compete with the likes of Easyjet, Ryanair and Jet2 but its product and unique business model means that it competes on the British regional market more easily against British Airways, Eastern Airways and British Midland Regional/ Baby. Flybe have become Britain's largest airline on the regional front owing to monopolies' at airports such as Exeter, ...
...made strong enough to sustain and coexist with the "Major players". The codeshare/partnership with Scottish regional airline Loganair have made it possible to compete on routes where there are less demand such as the scottish routes/Blackpool to the Isle of Man or gaining access to the Inter-Scotland routes allowing passengers to fly in one stop from Exeter to Stornoway or Southampton to Benbecula. However, as an airline enthusiast, I see this partnership ...

Southampton to Edinburgh on a budget

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Have to pay for food and drink

FlyBE have very extensive routes from Southampton to such places as Glasgow, Alicante, Dublin, Geneva the list goes on my flight was to Edinburgh on business. My flight cost was Circa £140 but this was for popular flight times 0700 to Edinburgh if you select times later in the day the flights are cheaper, even at this cost it is till cheaper than the equivalent BA fare. FlyBE is cheap and as a reult you lose a lot of the features you get with full ...
...there are problems you are left to find your own accomodation as some of my colleagues have had to. My experience was good on this trip. I had an E ticket so after presenting my ID I was asked where I wanted to sit and checked in my hold bagage, they did weigh my cabin luggage, which I have never had with any other airline, so I suspect that if it had been over 5kg it would have been destined for the hold Both flights left close to their scheduled ...

Very impressed

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: none

...not have much to compare Flybe.com to. However on experience alone we have been very impressed with them twice. Firstly my husband's daughter & partner wanted to come visit us - they are in Bournemouth and we are in North Wales. They don't drive and the train fares were absolutely horrific and most of their weekend would have been spent travelling. We were recommended Flybe - and booked them tickets from Southampton to Manchester, airports easily ...
...fare cost just over half the price of one train ticket. We then decided to use them ourselves to fly to Edinburgh from Liverpool at the end of July. Again - 2 people return cost £80. Booking via the internet was easy and effortless. At the airport everything was clear to follow. There was a delay on taking off (which was explained to us - it was a knock-on effect from a much earlier problem in the day, but having an explanation always helps), but ...

Flybe budget airline which you need a big budget

Advantages: Fly from Southampton
Disadvantages: Budget airline (I think not)

I went to Belfast last week with Flybe.com. I chose them as they use Southampton Airport which is convienent for me. I used there website to book tickets, which was very easy to use. There web site is www.flybe.com. I have seen lots of advertising for this airline, which boasts its a budget airline. I booked tickets for A Friday lunchtime departure and returned on a Sunday, which came to approx £86.00, which I thought fair enough I am going peak ...
...charged for using my credit card. So all in I was charged around £126.00, which I felt was not a budget fare at all. Anyway I still booked the ticket. I was able to take my luggage as hand luggage which maxium limit is 5kg. So no need to to worry about if my luggage will meet me at destination. The plane went on time and was offered refreshments, but at a price. Sandwiches were £4.00, tea/coffee £1.60 approx and bar drinks £3.00 approx. So I spent ...

Quick review of Flybe.com

Basically there is very little to say about Flybe that is positive. The service is typically poor, but the real test is when something goes wrong. If your aircraft can't fly for some reason (lack of crew, mechanical problem or adverse weather) then expect them to cancel your flight and leave you high and dry. You will get no support to help you find your way to your destination. My most recent experience is change of flight times causing us to shorten our Christmas holiday. They maybe cheap (although not all their tickets are cheap and they charge you for everything - bags in hold, food, seat allocation etc) but this doesn't make up for the poor service. ...

Quick review of Flybe.com

I flew flybe from Leeds-Bradford to Southampton one way for £1 plus tax, making it a total of £21. Excellent value for money. I did not check in any luggage so check-in was quick and easy. The staff were polite, the aircraft cabin was clean with leather seats and the flight departed on time. Drinks and food are at an additional cost, but the airline has no problem with you bringing your own. Flybe make an excellent choice if you book your flight in advance, don\'t expect too much, but for that price you do get excellent value for money. ...

and my luggage???

Advantages: Comfortable Seats
Disadvantages: Bad customer service, unhelpful staff, tardy etc.

We booked to go to Ireland for a wedding and went to Birmingham to get the flight with flybe. We got there and checked in fine, we went through to the departure lounge all on time, then as we all got on the bus to take us to the flight, a lsit of names were called, noone else was informed why and then someone came on the plane and asked if anyone would volunteer to go to London as there was too many people to go on the flight, eventually they had ...
...and 30mins after due to fly. When we arrived in Ireland we went to the carousel to get our luggage but a total of about 5 bags came off, we enquired as to where the bags were and were told that the plane could not take the baggage as they could not hold the weight and the bags would be returned to us within the next few days!! We had no clothes, I was on regular medication which was given by needle, as I as not allowed to take the needles on the ...

Flybe loses luggage

Advantages: none really
Disadvantages: Unhelpful, uninformed staff

Flying from Malaga, thru London Gatwick and on to the Isle of Man we were explicitly told that are bags were booked through both flights. Arriving the next day in Isle of Man neither of our two bags were there. The Flybe staff did not know how to use their own computer system and failed to complete a proper Lost Baggage Review. Our vacation was ruined. We spent four days waiting for our bags, Flybe never called. Finally we called London Gatwick, ...
...picked up the next day. When we arrived in Dublin, only ONE bag was there. After another three hours with NO HELP from any Flybe staff I tracked my own bag down AGAIN...it had been shipped to Dublin, and then for no reason on to the Isle of Man. Another two days I spent wearing the same clothes, trying to call and talk to someone at Flybe. Everyone said something different and due to the original screw up at the Isle of Man, I had to practically ...

A Clarke

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Many

Flybe - Never Again! No goodwill, no courtesy, no common sense and No Management on the ground! A flight from Belfast to Leeds Bradford on a Flybe aircraft is memorable for all the wrong reasons. This is a perfect aircraft if you are used to robots, carry little luggage and need no personal service. Senior staff are non-existant, when a manager was requested a female staff member in a ramp uniform came forward to whisper the rules to a junior clerk. ...
...A follow-up letter marked "personal & confidential, to be opened by addressee only" addressed to the CEO, was handled by the first clerk in the mailroom; staff seemingly do not understand plain English. Need I say anymore, the ratings speak volumes! This Airline deserves to be only used when all else fails. They have not only lost the writer as a customer, but more passengers than they may realize. Flybe should be downgraded due to lack of personnel ...
