Well I paid for it, as they use the well known merchants "Goldcar" (check out their reviews on the internet) who practice removing sums of money from clients credit cards after they've returned the car. Rented many times, but never again

"Rented many times and normally it works ok. Yes, they normally dont use the main renters, which means you normally have to take a bus from the airport etc to get to your car, which takes longer. But that might be ok. However, if something goes wrong, everything just falls apart. Let me explain. You will rent the car from, and pay to Holiday Autos. I was forced to upgrade my hire car at Granada airport as another child travelled with us at the last minute and was told by the Europcar spanish staff in broken English that the price of the new car would be 292 euros. However, after my last trip when the local partner Sixt unexpectedly charged almost £100 to my credit card a few days after the trip. 2 months later, I'm still trying to get this charge back. "Booked a long weekend car rental at barcelona airport through holiday autos and was given a booking with 'Centauro' rental cars. Turns out they are not even in teh terminal and you have to wait over an hour for a courtesy coach to their compound 10 minutes away. We paid for the entire booking through HA with Amex, but were told by the rental company that we had to pay an extra 480 Euros for fuel and accident excess despiet having inclusive insurance. ..." "My advice - book direct with a car company and save yourself money and hassle. I was charged extra after my booking for 'mandatory winter tyres'. If theye are mandatrory why not include in my booking charge at the very start. Holiday Autos say they have no hidden extras. Maybe not hidden but certainly 'hard to find' . They are not transparent or customer centric. Essentialy a broker which you can easily avoid.

"I booked a car for my son and his girlfriend to be picked up at Alicante airport at 11.30pm on 27th July. When they arrived, they were told that there were no cars available, even though we had received a confirmation email from holiday autos and the money had been deducted from my debit card. "dreadful. Booked three cars with them for a large skiing group. e-vouchers didn't arrive. When we got to the destination airport, checked my e-mails and all three bookings had been canceled for lack of cars. These e-mails must have been sent whilst we were flying.

"I booked a rental car in Geneva for a few days, naming my girlfriend as the sole driver. On turning up at the airport, I was told that they needed a credit card imprint to cover the excess.
