Advantages: handy place for shops Disadvantages: staff, hotel,
when we arived at this hotel after a long taxi journey which takes aroudn 40 mins in a taxi from charles de gaul to this hotel it cost 60 euros which is really extreme.
when we arrived we thought the staff were really rude and it didnt help that a couple of them couldnt understand a word of english, the hotel looked mucky and seedy and the carpets were up to dado level and were really dirty.
the lift was no help because it couldnt even fit in our cases never mind us (2 of us) - we were on teh top floor i think it was the 5 floor and it was a treck to climb up the winding steps with our cases when there shoudl ahve been a lift.
we finally got to the top and with our keys we opened the doors and my first impression was this is disgusting tehre were 3 beds and a tv and a little balcony. the rooms were ok but nothign very ...
Advantages: Design hotel, good breakfast, nice area Disadvantages: Not in the very center of the city
I have been in the "RexHotel" for a long weekend in April 2008.
The area
The hotel is situated in a quiet street 10-15 minutes walking from the center. In this area there are a lot of supermarkets (including one Lidl), restaurants (Italians, Chineses) and a lot of take aways. There is also a 7eleven that closes around 11.00 pm.
The hotel
When you enter at the hotel you can see the reception, a sofa and a internet desk (free to use). Our room was in the first floor and it was nice. Not huge but with space enough to have a table, a chest of drawers and a sofa.
The bathroom is quite impressive with black stone in a very design style.
In the room there are available two bottles of sparkling water and a detailed dossier of the attractions of the area with a lot of useful information. You can access free of charge to ...

Histoire
Le Grand Rex was opened in 1932 and is the oldest cinema in Paris. It has a long and interesting history, from its opening night on the 8th of December 1932, attended by a ritzy, glitzy list of 3,300 VIPs, to its occupation by the German soliders, who used it as a place to watch propaganda films.
The building is decorated in a typical art deco style, whilst the inside, particularly the 'Grande Salle' - the biggest room, which also boasts the biggest screen in Europe - is a mixture of art deco and baroque style.
Le Grand Rex is also home to a night club - Rex Club - which is attached to the building and is right next door. However, in the many times I've visited, this has ...
