Faliraki water park--- ok for a small place
Advantages: The rides are good Disadvantages: Not many rides, hilly
...second week in october. the water park was still open, thank god. For a holiday park this is pretty good, the slides are few in number but the thrills are pretty decent. We were there in late october so didnt have to queue, the park is very very hilly and i could imagine having the queue would probably make all that walking not worth it. I wouldn't go there in the busy season. Final note---- don't go to faliraki in october!!!!!!!!!! you have been ...

Sandy and clean Pefkos beach.
Advantages: Clean goldan sandy beach and clear shallow water. Disadvantages: gets very crowded
...a good deal of shingle.
Pefkos beach however is one of the best on the island for clean golden sand and clear shallow water that is ideal for families. For about 8 Euros you can hire two sunbeds and umbrella for the whole day. The sunbeds do really dominate the beach which is only about 400 metres long and no more than 20 metres deep, so there is very little room for you to just arrive with your towel under your arm and lay where you want.
If you ... ...agaes and tastes. The Pefkos beach road is a 300 metre up hill walk to the main village where there are even more shops and places to eat. And if you want to walk another 5 minutes you will find two really nice chinese restaurants and an Indian as well.
At night Pefkos really comes alive and has excellent night life, mostly at the famous 'Pefkos by night' bar. But if the really young and loud crowd is not for you then I can highly recommend the ...

The beautiful old town of Rhodes.
Advantages: The old perfectly marries the new Disadvantages: quite a bit of walking if it is hot.
...nothing away from the authentic medieval experience.
You can definatley make a complete day trip out of this place, and when you have completed your tour of the city itself and had your fill of good food and window shopping you can then adjourn to the old moat. Obviously no swimming involved as the moat is now a deep grass covered valley surrounding the city, dotted here and there with palm trees and flowers.
At approximatley three kilometers around ...

Lindos, jewel of Rhodes Island
Advantages: Beautiful and Idylic Disadvantages: Too many tourist shops and some steep walking.
Unless you are actually staying in Lindos your first approach will from the top of the surrounding hills, so you will be greeted by the spectacular view; The ancient Acropolis set at the highest point of the town overlooking the sea, the crecent of sand and clear sparkling waters of St Pauls bay, and the tightly packed traditional greek white houses, shops and Villas; accented with the odd Italian style villa left over from the 1930's when Rhodes ... ...the town square you can either turn left toward the beach or continue straight on through the maze of vine covered narrow streets and the vast array of small local stores, where you can purchase everything from an engagement ring to traditional Greek lace dresses.
Another thing that Lindos is not short of is the most wonderful Tavernas, cafes, and no trip to Lindos would be complete without a visit to a crepe bar for a chocolate and banana crepe ...

One of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.
Advantages: A site of historic interest by Rhodes medeivel town Disadvantages: a wonder of the ancient world that isnt there anymore
The colossus of Rhodes was a huge bronze statue around 110 feet in height that stood at the entrance of Rhodes harbour.
Rhodes is one of the three largest greek islands and is located a mere 12 miles off of the coast of Turkey where the Aegean sea meets the Mediterranean. Being of significant strategic importance the island sparked the interest of many and in 357BC was conquered by Mausolus of Halicarnassus and remained in hs hands until 340BC when ... ...celebrate this victory that the colossus of Rhodes was constructed. The Rhodians melted down all the bronze from the defeated invaders numerous war machines to build the statue itself and used the timber from giant siege engines to use as scaffolding.
