Advantages: The accommodation, the skiing, the nightlife... everything. Disadvantages: More costly than europe... but worth it!
...INTRODUCTION
Whistler – Blackcombe is a ski resort situated about two hours bus journey north of Vancouver in Canada and is quite simply the most incredible ski resort I’ve ever had the fortune of skiing in. Before I begin to wax lyrically about its virtues a little background on myself as regards skiing. I’ve been skiing now for about 15 years having started at the tender age of 7 and until travelling to Whistler I’ve only ever-skied in Europe. In this time I’ve been all over Europe in all the major skiing countries as well as the less well known Andorra, Bulgaria, Finland and Sweden. I say all this not in an attempt to show off but to show that I think I have the credentials to comment on ski resorts.

Advantages: A peaceful desert Oasis (Not the band silly!) Disadvantages: Very, very, very, very expensive!
...Al Maha Desert Resort & Spa is located approximately 60 minutes drive from Dubai International Airport. Transfers can be organised with your tour operator, but will be in two stages. The first stage is a transfer from the airport down the highway and into the desert and onto the perimeter fence of the resort - this should take no more than 45-50 minutes. Despite the transfer time, particualrly after a 7 1/2 hour flight from the UK, this was not uncomfortable or irritating like some transfers can be, so I hardly noticed the time.
The Resort truly is an Oasis in the desert and is perfect for a romantic break or to kick...

...Disney's Polynesian Resort
Welcome to Disney's version of Waikiki and aloha! Disney's Polynesian Resort is one of the few original resorts that has been present in the world (of the Walt Disney Variety) since it first opened in 1970s. Tropical palm tress, grass skirts and a few pineapple juices welcome you to the wonderfully tropical world of the Polynesian resort hotel! Aloha!
The rooms are arranged in blocks and one little known fact is that the rooms were all assembled and completed off site and then literally 'slotted' into the frames that were built in their current locations!
The reception area is fantastic in this hotel with lush exotic plants and flowers everywhere as well as a running water fountain. The reception staff are quick and efficient but with a laid back Hawaiian style!
Where I the world are we...

I love reading, doing English at Cambridge makes this somewhat obvious, but I still feel it needs to be said. My love of reading means that I enjoy books that are hard work and rewarding as much as I enjoy cheap thrilly trash. Moby Dick is not cheap... more
We've just come back from a week at this hotel, and I must say it was very disappointing.
The rooms were very basic, although they were well cleaned, and in good condition (we were staying in the second block at the back, which I think is relatively... more
