Advantages: Not very far to travel Disadvantages: Very expensive
Although Voss is a very small town located about 1-2 hours drive from Bergen airport it offers some of the best skiing conditions I have skied in. There are passes available for the cable car and ski lifts which range from one day passes to monthly passes, there is a restaurantsituated at the top of the mountain where meals are served all day. Although much of the food is quite expensive there is a wide variety of meals available. The ski slopes cover the whole mountain with slopes which can be used by a wide ability level of skiers the ski lifts are situated so that there is at most 50 metres between the top of the lifts and the start of the slope. There is skiing equiptment available from a wide variety of shops in close proximity of the main centre of Voss with all equiptment needed provided. Instructors on the mountain speak ...

WHY DID WE BOOK THE RINGHOTEL FRIEDERIKENHOF?
We did not actually, in a sense, choose to book this hotel. It just happened to be the venue for a friend's wedding reception. He was marrying a girl from Lubeck in the north of Germany. The invitation arrived at Easter time for the wedding on 5th October. We booked our three night stay immediately upon our receipt, and acceptance, of the invitation, having discovered that it was not exorbitantly expensive, had an en-suite room available for the three nights that we wanted to be there and actually looked rather pleasant on the website.
Not knowing Lubek, or indeed northern Germany at all, we did not even make the effort to look at other hotels in the area. The fact that the reception was being held at the Friederikenhof on the Friday meant that if we were staying there I did not need to ...
