Advantages: Funny with some great description of the city Disadvantages: Not a serious crime thriller, not many suspects
Background:
This author was recommended to me again by my well read boss. Originally she introduced me to Donna Leon and she said she thought I would like this author too. As he also writes crime fiction with a Detective Aurelio Zen also based in Italy.
About the Author:
Michael Dibdin was born in Wolverhampton in March 1947. He qualified as a teacher in Alberta, before moving to Italy in 1979. This was when his writing career took of. Indeed in 1988 he won the Crime Writers Association Maccallan Gold Award for fiction and was shortlisted again in 1991. Advantages: It's Pizza! Disadvantages: Too much oil
Dr Oetker's is a German family firm, founded in 1891 originally producing baking powder. They began selling frozen pizzas in Germany in 1970 and brought the Ristorante range to the UK in 2002.

Usually I eat Pizzas in restaurants or occasionally from a take away place such as Dominos. I am not really a fan of shop bought pizzas finding the base sometimes has the taste and texture of soggy cardboard, and the toppings a bit stingy and never getting to the edge. A while back I tried Dr Oetker's Bistro range which were small lunchtime sized pizza baguettes, so upon my last visit to Sainsburys I purchased ...
Advantages: Very rich in styles Disadvantages: Some songa a little too gloomy
"One way ticket" is Luciano's fifth album, released in December of 1995. This album was his first on the VP label, which preceded many others.
Track listings
1. "Black Survivor" - Has a very catchy chorus with uplifting verses to a very bassy beat. (4/5)
2. "Chant Down Babylon" - The chorus and the melodies of African drums is by far the best aspect of this song. (4/5)
3. "One Way Ticket" - My favourite song on the whole album. Even though the chorus and verses all have a very conscious message, Luciano's extraordinary vocal skills just captivates the listener. (5/5)
4. "Ragamuffin" - refers to the hardships of the times, with a sort of 'old skool" feel to it even for the 90's! (3/5)
5. "Bounty Lover" (with Lady G) - A classic love song featuring Lady G. Her dancehall style lyrics actually complement Luciano's singing ...

Manufacturer's product description
This restaurant, within walking distance of the city center, serves some of Bologna's best food at moderate prices. It has an Art Deco style and a real Bolognese atmosphere. We prefer the front room, which opens onto the kitchen. As a novelty, on the street is a window looking directly into the kitchen. To begin your gargantuan repast, request the tortellini in rich cream sauce. Recommended main dishes are the fritto misto all'Italiana (mixed grill), scaloppe cotoletta alla bolognese (veal layered with ham and parmigiano and then baked). A dramatic dessert is crepes flambé.
