Last year myself and husband travelled to this hotel, which had only recently been opened and had the most amazing honeymoon! On arrival to the hotel reception area is massive but still welcoming, and check in to the hotel was quick and easy which is what we needed after the long flight from the UK.
Once we got up to the room, we were really happy, lovely seaview huge balcony ( double the size of soe of the others) and a king size bed which could proabbly have fitted 4 people in easily! In the room you also have a restocked fridge everyday and 4 spirits on Optics which are replaced when empty, Vodka, Gin and appleton rum i think.
The restaurants and food are out of this world, the breakfasts were huge with everything from full english cooked breakfast, to freshly made omlettes, pancakes, cereals and large selection of cold meats cheeses and fruits. They also make Fresh Juices every morning with fresh fruit - gorgeous. Lunch is again huge selection and dinner was the best at a hotel ive ever been to including loads of fresh seafood including Lobster in the normal buffet. Alacarte restaurants were OK, but you are so spoilt in the buffet, nothing could really compare, we ate at the steakhouse and the steak was a bit tough and we ate at the Sir richards which was nice but freezing ( a/c on too high!)
The complex is massive with 2 large pool areas, we made use of both as one tended to be louder with the animation and if you didnt want to be dragged off your sunbed the 2nd pool by the suites is lovely and relaxing.
The swim up bars were fab, lots of lovely cocktails to try from strawberry daquiris to one special one called a sexy lady, cant remember what was in it but it was a appley taste and easy to drink far too many!
The beach was fab, and animation in the hotel always had something going on from aqua aerobics to try and lose weight from all that delish food u can eat to bingo ( where you better like the taste of rum if your going to play!) and boules on the beach. Night time entertainment was a bit of a let down, the beach party was good but some nights were a bit boring, so we ended up going back to the room quite early. But hey we were on honeymoon so not such a problem!
The hotel is situated pretty much in the middle of nowhere which i would say is the only downside theres not really any where to walk or look at. You can get taxis in to Ocho Rios, but we didnt bother as we found out the way the locals do it is 10 times cheaper, a taxi was about 20 dollars a local taxi bus thing you can catch at the end of the road cost about 1 dollar each! its nice to get off the complex and see the town even if it was only for one day.
Theres plenty of trips to do, we only made it to the dunns river falls which are a must but all in all this hotel was so beautiful we didnt want to leave!
