The Riu Palace is located right on the seafront at Canico de Baixo, only 10 minutes drive from Funchal Airport and 20 minutes drive to the city of Funchal. ... ...from our balcony.
The Riu Palace Madeira website suggest that you can opt for a little more space and comfort by taking one of the suites which have a double bedroom and separate lounge with a sofa bed. Three of the suites have a garden view, rather than a sea view. Room 1531 high up one of the towers apparantely has a particularly large balcony, but we never noticed this room.
