Grenada has many highlights and this is one not to be missed. This is still a working distillery, you can smell it a mile away. You'll be met at the entrance and offered a guided tour for a small fee (I think it was about £1), this is well worth doing and can take as long or as little as you choose.
The equipment used is the original shipped from England in the 1700's and its like stepping back in time. The old buildings and chimneys still remain and make for great photo opportunities. Unfortunately we went at the end of the dry season so the waterwheel run to crush the sugar cane was only working intermitently and we didn't see it up and running.
And the highlight of the tour, buying the product at the end . . it will knock your socks off!
