Riviera Bay Holiday Park, Brixham, Devon

Advantages: Active pensioners and seagulls will love it
Disadvantages: No help if you're disabled

Riviera Bay Holiday Park, (formerly known as St. Mary's Bay) is now run by Hoseasons. We booked a bargain break there last September. At the time of booking I pointed out that we were both disabled. Our first glimpse of the site was disappointing. The chalets were drab and outdated and looked like they'd been built in the 1960's. They were all in long rows, looking directly into each other - somewhat reminiscent of a prison camp. No sea view for us. On arrival at the reception, we were told that we could not park next to our chalet, as there were no roads on the site. It turned out that everyone had to park in the carpark and then haul their cases across the site to their chalets. We then learned that we would have to transport our luggage all the way from the carpark to our chalet ourselves, even though we're both disabled. I ...

RIVIERA BAY HOLIDAY PARK, BRIXHAM

Advantages: LOCATION
Disadvantages: ACCOMODATION AND POOR VALUE FOR MONEY

Riviera Bay Holiday Camp, Brixham We had a 3 night weekend break at this site last month, and I wish to warn anyone tempted to book a holiday there - the accomodation is just the pits and it really does spoil what should be a relaxing stay in a beautiful part of the country. On the positive - The site overlooks St Mary's Bay, which is beautiful. The entertainment laid on, like bowling and a night club, looks reasonable. The staff at reception are friendly. There is a pub, which serves a good variety of drinks and food, which looks eatable but relies very heavily on pork/bacon, so we didn't sample it. On the negative - apart from the chalets - the take away was expensive and staffed by very disinterested youngsters, and the resulting food was tastless and poor value. The shop is scruffy and very very hot in warm weather, so ...

Devon-ately a good holiday park!

Advantages: Good location, cheap
Disadvantages: Not 5 star appearance but perfectly adequate

I've just come home from a three night stay at the Devon Valley Holiday Park in Shaldon, and thought I would share my experience with you. Location The holiday park is located just South of the River Teign, and also therefore the town of Teignmouth, in Devon (where the members of the band Muse come from). Devon Valley is six miles from Torquay and 20 minutes from Exeter. Facilities *Self-catering and half board options *Pet friendly and pet-free options *Heated Swimming Pool *Scuba-diving lessons *Fishing and crabbing *All weathers multi-sport court *Adventure playground *Under 5's soft play area *Nightclub *Restaurant *Takeaway *Shop *Arcade *Babysitting Service *Children's club *Choice of caravans, chalets and a holiday cottage What it looks like When you arrive at Devon Valley Holiday ...
