Situated on the Magalluf beach, 5 minutes walk from bars such as the Secret Garden and City lights is where you will find Robinson Crusoe's. During the time I stayed in Magalluf this was the restaurant I frequented most often due to a combination of the food quality, food portions, friendly staff, and idyllic location oh and how can I forget…the Loopy Joos!

The restaurant opens at 7 am for breakfast and so is one of the few places you are likely to find a drink if you are unfamiliar with the area and is open until quite late although times do vary occasionally depending on whether there are any special events coming up. The restaurant is jointly owned by an ex-pat Brit and his Korean business partner and both are committed to making a success of the venture, which is demonstrated in their work ethics and customer service.

On first looking upon the restaurant, you can instantly see where the name fits in. The first level of tables is set a few steps up from the promenade on the terrace. The tables then climb up the stairs until they reach the top. The main bar is down at the bottom surrounded by the low level tables and imitates the little beach huts you see in films like The Beach, with their little thatched roof, this theme runs throughout the restaurant because this thatched roof and palm tree look is what creates most of the shade for the tables that run along side the stairs. The best tables are quite central, really cosy and really low, but what makes them so cool is that they are tucked slightly to either side of the restaurant and cordoned off like little Jacuzzi's ensuring near privacy.

The kitchen area is pretty well hidden, but as an honorary team member, I did get to see it on one occasion and found it to be in tip top condition despite their being a full house and ridiculously hot.

Upstairs just outside the kitchen, there are 3 computer terminals allowing Internet access (30 minutes for 1 Euro) and a pool table. There is also the bulletin/ souvenir board which is regularly updated with photos taken throughout the holiday season of diners and has anecdotes left by people who wished to be remembered for a short while, you never know, I might still be up there.

The restaurant has featured a couple of times on 'A Place In The Sun' due to it's growing fame among the island visitors. Therefore I expected my food to be of sumptuous quality. I was not disappointed. My regular diet was the half roast chicken, chips and salad for approx 8.50 Euros. The plates were absolutely ginormous and unmanageable for me. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and crispy and the chips were thin cut, hot through and melt in the mouth. This went lovely with my Loopy Joos cocktail, which is the ultimate head banging experience I can tell you. The drink itself needs a review of it's own, what with it being made with 6 different spirits and top up with minimal lemonade and a little blackcurrant to dye it.

The rest of the menu consists of items such as steaks and pasta. It's far from traditional Spanish cuisine but beats British places in the same league hands down. The staff, although change every year aside from the odd regular, are extremely friendly and act as though the team itself is one big family. Waiters and waitresses alike check on each other's tables and so you are made to feel like a special guest who is cared and catered for.

The best days at this restaurant is during the Barbie. They are huge events that pull most of the locals and visitors staying in the local hotels, publicity is kept to a minimal, with people only being told days in advance if they happen to be dinning in the restaurant anyway. However, people can smell that char grilled meat from miles away and a party is soon on the horizon.

This is by far one of the better eateries in Magalluf and shouldn't be missed. It is a little bit pricier than some of the more typical eateries serving the same sort of cuisine but the standard here is something to be desired and thus the extra value is warranted. I can't go to the beach without stopping by here.
