For a start i want to make the point that the Rock is British, and I'm talking about a place here, not the greatest WWF wrestler ever, but thats not the point, the Spanish are SO childish about Gibraltar, they don't put up any signs to Gibraltar until you're right next to it. Getting out is even worse, with Spanish customs officials searching 1 in every 5 cars. We were held up for an hour at the border, but apparently you can be held up for up to 3 hours.
Firstly, getting there, Gibraltar does have an airport but people visiting generally come on a day trip from the Costa Del Sol, where the main airport is Malaga, about 2 hours drive.
Once you're there, the most famous attraction is the Rock itself. For £7 each you get return tickets on the Cable Car and also free admission to all the sites of the Rock, including St Michaels Cave, a very spectacular cave, and the Great Siege tunnels. I didn't see them but they're supposed to be good. Well according to the Gibraltar tourist office leaflet anyway. And then there are the Apes. Introduced by the BRITISH from Morocco, they are monkeys without tails and are very funny to watch. Still, watch out for all the taxis and buses which come in a constant trail up the Rock. Its much better to use the Cable Car.
In the town of Gibraltar theres some good shops, and if you feel homesick theres always a Tescos and a Marks and Spencers, but the main attraction is the VAT free shopping. There is a colonial feel about the place, and most of the people are bilingual, speaking English in accents which sound just like Dom Jolys foreign accents on Trigger Happy TV. Food is generally the same price as in England, and normally the same food as well. You can use either Pounds or Pesetas in Gibraltar.
There isn't that much to see apart from the town and the rock, but there is this buiilding at Europa Point called The Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, which looks quite good.
And then you have to get out again. Still, the British have been good about it, putting up an ice cream stall, and a sign which says "they are politically motivated and are part of Spains attempt to take over the Rock of Gibraltar." Its true.
Finally, you may have noticed I haven't written any ops for a while (you probably haven't) but anyway thas because I've had exams and I've just been on holiday. I haven't got bored of Ciao yet.

I'm agree with Xelavie... it's SO political. I don't want to discuss about the property of the rock, but you should know that british says it's british and spanish says it's spanish, and history is written different in England and in Spain, so it's hard to know who is right. The op is a very good op, but the title... "Umm the Spanish should f**k off, don't they know that we have better nuclear weapons?"... and this from Disillusioned is NO COMMENT.

I've been there a few years ago. The cheeky monkey were eyeing my carrier bag up because it was rustling. The tour guide told me to put it in the mini-bus or they will ponce on me.
Wasn't all that impressed with Gibraltar, the shops were ok but started to look the same.
I'm glad it was only a day trip, wouldn't like to have spent a week there.
