soundtrack--it's got all the best parts without the dialog in-between! Well, isn't that what an Original Soundtrack Recording like this is supposed to be? Back in the mid-70s when The Rocky Horror Picture Show was a midnight staple at countless movie theaters, Tim Curry wasn't yet "Tim Curry" and Susan Sarandon wasn't yet "Susan Sarandon" (hell, Barry Bostwick wasn't even "Barry Bostwick"!). Listening to these science-fiction double-feature showtunes will take you back through a time warp to the days when the now-Academy-Award-winning actress was perfectly willing to stand around for most of a picture in her bra and panties--and so would her boyfriend! In those days, they were just Brad and Janet, forced to spend a dark and stormy (also sexy) night in the haunted house of mad scientist Frank N. Furter--just a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania-ha-ha who really knew how to belt out a song. Those were the days. --Jim Emerson

Advantages: Its amazing, funny, sexy and brilliant! Disadvantages: It might be a little 'full on' for some people!!
Before i say anything else I should mention that this musical contains reasonably graphic materail about sex so is not suitable for the very young or anyone easily offended!
The company touring the production in 2002/2003 featured Jonathan Wilkes in the lead role - he was absolutely fantastic as Frank - n- Furter - he sang brilliantly and really made the role his own. The staging and lighting are simple but effective - they add to but dont distract ... ...(as anyone who has seen the film will tell you) - the audience are on their feet for every number (but particularly The Time Warp!) and theres lots of audience participation. The showstopper is Sweet Transvestite - in which Frank-n-Furter shows off to the full but the weepy balads at the end are pretty moving too!
This version of the tour has ended now but next time the show tours YOU HAVE TO GO! Tickets generaly cost between 10 and 20 pounds but ...
