Hotel Roma is one of the finest 4 stars hotels of Florence. Is located in the heart of the city, in an ancient palace of 18th century, completely renovated in 1988, overlooking one of the most enchanting squares of the historical Florence, dominated by the imposing green-white marble façade of Santa Maria Novella church. A few steps away you can find the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo) with the Giotto Belltower, Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), Piazza della Siqnoria (Signoria Square), the Medicean district of San Lorenzo, the Lungarni and all the main florentine monuments and museums. Furthermore the Hotel is near the central rail station and the congress, fairs and exhibitions center (Palazzo dei Congressi and Fortezza da Basso), easily reachable from the Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci). The refined atmosphere of the ground floor, the conference hall, the reception and the american bar room are a concentrate of quality and elegance, a fusion of colors that combine the green of the walls together with the warm style of the fornitures.
Advantages: Perfect location, excellent Hotel if you just want somewhere to sleep Disadvantages: A little hard to find, nothing really major though, Breakfast could have been more substantial
...Having decided over Christmas that I fancied a trip to Barcelona again I got onto the Ryanair website and started booking up. Having been to Barcelona a few years ago and staying well outside the main centre I decided that this time I wanted something quite central but also at a budget price. After all there was no way I could have afforded one of the posh 5 star hotels. So with those thoughts in mind I trawled all sorts of internet sites and ended up back on the hotel section of the Ryanair site. I had a couple of choices around the Station and dotted over the city but decided that Roma Reial fitted the bill better than any of the others.
It's located just off Las Ramblas, the main street in Barcelona where a lot of the cities drinking establishments are located. The Roma Reial is located in the Placa Reial about 200 meters from...

Advantages: Comfortable hotel - handy for the metro Disadvantages: Characterless - can be expensive
...This year, we mostly went to Italy.
We had booked a hotel a little to the south of Rome for a few nights as we wanted to visit places outwith the city but changed our plans for the Saturday night and tried to book a hotel in Rome itself. Not an easy task (at least not on my budget). Oh sure, you can stay in a pit close to Termini station, but not being suicidal, or wishing to part company with my belongings, and always leaving myself the option of swinging a cat should the chance arise, I'm afraid that's not for me.
Long story short...after several near things (literally) we ended up booking the Sheraton.
The Sheraton isn't in central Rome, it's in the EUR district. This presented no significant problem however. It's a breeze to find - take junction 26 on the ring road and head for central Rome. Go through the EUR district almost...

Advantages: The buffet breakfast was quite good Disadvantages: Unfortunately, lots!
...I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of February 2008 and paid £50.30 per night for the room, plus an online booking fee. This was my first visit to Portugal and I chose this hotel as I thought it looked okay in the online photographs, because it had a swimming pool etc and because I thought it was close to the airport. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed. The hotel was not within walking distance of the airport and so I had to get a taxi. I found that Roma was not the most upmarket of areas and as I was travelling alone felt rather nervous. The lobby to the hotel looks quite impressive and the staff are well turned out, but I did not find them particularly friendly. My room was pretty basic and very cold - no carpet and the heater did not work. Also, the view from the window looked down upon the dreary, grey back...
