Advantages: Immaculate rooms, polite and courteous staff Disadvantages: Bathroom became rather hot and damp
Spent three nights at the Europa Tyrol, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is located opposite to the main station in Innsbruck and is only a short walk to the shops and the Golden Roof which is at the heart of the city. The hotel is actually connected to the main railway via a tunnel which offers exclusive use for guests.
The rooms were immaculate, and very nicely furnished. My room had a typical Tyrolean feel which resembled a log cabin. The rooms were rather compact, however were sufficient. The bathroom was quite large and had a bath/ shower. My room however did not seem to have any ventilation in the bathroom and it did become rather damp and hot. The bedroom was air conditioned which due to the lovely weather was a godsend.
The staff were all polite and would tend to every need. The bar area was clean ...
Advantages: Great breakfast, peaceful and attractive location Disadvantages: Ugly 70s style rooms with a surfeit of brown. Dirty bathrooms and a general lack of warmth
Misty mountain home
The second stop of our recent German holiday was an overnight in the Black Forest, an area of particular natural beauty where we'd been hopeful of some gentle walking and enough Black Forest ham and gateaux to hospitalise ourselves. Sadly enough we never actually got to try any gateaux, although the region did meet our other expectations.
The region was very misty during our visit and this actually added to its charm. As we approached the guesthouse it looked very attractive from the outside - a sizeable chalet style property, very much in keeping with local styles.

Advantages: Good food & excellent Matterhorn views Disadvantages: Swimming pool is freezing & swimwear is optional in the sauna!
I stayed at this hotel in May 2006, whilst 6 months pregnant! It was fantastic! Zermatt is a car free zone so you have to park your car at the large car park outside Zermatt & catch the train. The short train journey will then arrive at the train station where you can pick up a free transfer from the hotels electric powered mini bus. We just walked which was about 10/15mins as it's at the opposite end of the resort. The hotel is beautifully furnished with pine clad on the walls & ceilings in the rooms. You must ask for a Matterhorn view, it will just make your holiday to wake up every morning & see the mountain from your bed. Our room was on the top floor so we had velux windows to really maximise the views. We stayed on a half board & you get a set menu with 2/3 choices. Being pregnant I was limited to what I could eat & if ...
