WEST FIELD SHOPPING CENTRE DERBY
Review of Shopping Centres - General by halk

Advantages: COSTLY
Disadvantages: OUT PRICING SMALLER OUTLETS

...on cutting spending and new shopping centres are not well-matched with each other. Yes we love these new shopping centres and plush surroundings, tempting everyone to spend all their well earned money. But are we tempted? This is the multimillion dollar question. I love to shop like everybody else and buy new things like any other normal person would, also to have a good choice. So my idea of shopping is the traditional high street. Traditional ...
...suit everyone, Building huge shopping centres takes up space of any town or city and is becoming really outdated and boring. Today another shopping centre opens its doors and it is mammoth like those of Gates Head in the north and other big ones like the Meadow Hall; Sheffield and Merry hill; West Midlands. Why do we need all these shops, yes its exciting to visit them but they soon become exactly the same of all the other shopping malls, with the ... Read review

The Colosseum
Review of Colosseum, Rome by medgenie

Advantages: Amazing
Disadvantages: No

...is completed without seeing the Colosseum, a symbol of both the modern and ancient Rome. It was build for horse racing circuit and gladiatorial battles, one of the most important entertainments in the Roman Empire. Each door to the Colosseum has a roman numeral carved on it and people from different communities of the society were assigned different numbers. There is also an entrance with no numeral which was only used by the Emperor. According to ...
...to have all spectators at their seat within half an hour-how amazing is that-even in modern days, it takes longer to have all audience seated in a short period of time. As for those Bruce Lee fans, just want to make you aware that the Colosseum is also the place where the last fighting scene of one of his movies ' The Way of the Dragon" was filmed. ... Read review

Small airport
Review of Rome-Ciampino Airport by Stevoz

Advantages: Friendly staff, easy to go through, close to Rome
Disadvantages: Few shops/cafes, getting back there from Rome can be a bit more complicated.

This airport is quite small so it is easy to navigate. The baggage did not take too long to arrive after we did and the staff there were friendly and helpful. It is very easy to find your way from the airport into Rome, the best way is probably to take the local bus to the closest metro station as this is the cheapest option (taxis and a more expensive bus directly into the city are also available). It is much more difficult getting back to the ... Read review

The Vatican
Review of Vatican by medgenie

Advantages: Must-go for catholics
Disadvantages: No

As a Catholic, going to Vatican is like going to Mecca for Muslims or the Ganges for the Hindus. It's been my dream since my baptism. The Vatican's 44 hectares of land make it the smallest state in the world but the biggest tourist attraction. It is an independent state and the headquarter of the Catholic church and home to the current Pope. The Vatican museum is a must-go when visiting Vatican. It contains the finest classical and Renaissance art ...
...The final stop in Vatican is the St Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world. Designed by Bramante and Raphael and with the dome added by Michaelangelo, it is a magnificent piece of art. It looks like a palace, rather than a church, with all its decorations. I went in to the quiet area within the chapel to pray-being able to say a prayer in the largest and most significant church in the world is amazing. Finally, it came to souvenir time. ... The Pantheon
Review of Pantheon & Piazza della Rotonda by medgenie

Advantages: Very unusual building
Disadvantages: No

The Pantheon is an interesting place in Rome. It is the best preserved ancient building in Rome, used to be a temple for pagan worshippers but it's now a catholic church. It has a very unusual design. It's circular and the walls roll up into a dome at the top. Dome is not uncommon in many European architecture but a hole in the apex of the dome is definitely worth going to have a look. There are no windows and the building sole's source of light ...
