When In Rome... Visit the Colosseum.

Advantages: An unusual and dramatic experience..
Disadvantages: If you have to queue in the sun.

Visiting the Colosseum in Rome is an experience you will not forget. I did not know what to expect when I went there.Everyone has seen photographs of the outside of the Colosseum and the inside as it once was has been reconstructed in many film sets. What did I really expect to see; I do not know but I suppose that I thought I would be disappointed at how little of it was intact or looked authentic. this was not the case though. Once in a life time oppurtunity

Advantages: Surreal, limited crowd
Disadvantages: Getting there

An absolute monstrosity

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: It is horrid on every level.

Jesus, I wonder how much of a bung Westfield had to chuck the way of some of Derby City Council to get them to allow planning permission for this unbelievable eyesore. It looks like someone has built a distribution depot in the city centre, it is just a huge grey box. S. Maria Maggiore - Huge!

Advantages: Beautiful!
Disadvantages: Crowds

A beautiful Church which is huge and full of visitors. Not my favourite sight in Rome but still quite stunning. When I visited there were many people entering and watching services. It is quite large and impersonal, but still quite a beautiful place. The only drawback would be the number of people there at different times of the day - I would suggest either going early or as late as possible to avoid the crowds.
