... A lot of people had used the automatic ticket machines at Heathrow believing they would then have to get onward flight tickets at Rome. This proved incomprehensible to the Italian staff and a huge delay when boarding the onward flight. The staff were unhelpful and very rude.

...four hour stop over at Rome airport before our connecting flight to Heathrow. My mother, who is a smoker, looked for a designated smoking area. She was told that the only place she could have a cigarette was outside the airport. We proceeded to make our way and en-route passed airport staff and airport police all partaking of the demon weed!!! We had to pass security checks and customs clearance and obviously do the same on our return. Why a small ... ...Something else to bear in mind if using Rome as a stopover is to take a few Euros with you - as apart from American Dollars and Credit Cards they will not take anything else - a bit of a nuisance when all you want is a bottle of water! ...

The bar area is small but it has comfortable chairs for you to relax. NOTE - Don't be expecting a late night in this bar because it closed early in the evening.

From RomeFiumicino airport (FCO): Catch the train from the airport terminal to Rome Termini central train station.
From Rome Ciampino airport (CIA): Catch the Terravision shuttle bus to Rome Termini central train station.
From Termini central railway station the Hotel is about 5 minutes walk away. From the big piazza in front of the station, turn left onto Via Cavour. After about 100 metres turn right onto Via Principe Amedeo, then at the end of the street turn left onto Via Del Viminale...

...I was thrilled when I got the message that we would be going on a company trip to Rome. Since I had been there before I got the task of finding a hotel. Finding a hotel for 24 people in central Rome in October turned out to be quite a difficult task. Many of the centrally located hotels are smaller and many were fully booked. In the end we decided to stay at Express By Holiday Inn San Giovanni located at Via Assisi 53. We had to pay 125 € per room.
Arriving in Rome
We landed in Rome at about 11 am in the morning of October 21st. We walked over to the train station at Leonardo da Vinci airport also known as Fiumicino (FCO). From here you can take the Leonardo Express to Termini but since the hotel is located on the way we decided to go for a local train direction Orte-Fara Sabina for 5 € and after about 30-40 we reached the train...
