Cardinal Hotel - Not Bad, Not Bad
Advantages: Reception, Balcony, Breakfast Bar, Rooms Disadvantages: First Impression
...the taxi to find the Cardinal Hotel, St Peters. - The Address
The address suggests that the hotel is basically on the door step of the Vatican its self. I have no idea why it was so similar to the address of the actual St Peters because the Cardinal Hotel is on the out skirts of the city. Even one or two of the taxi drivers who had been around for a while weren't sure where it was. To get to the hotel you have to turn off a main road after avoiding ... ...I first walked into the Cardinal Hotel I found a lounge where you could wait or relax, open to the elements which lead to the reception. When approaching the reception it gave me a very professional impression with clocks for around the world lined up on the wall behind the reception as well as a spotless desk which ran from one side of the room to the other. To Italian staff there were very friendly helping where ever they could from an enquiry ...

A Great Hotel
Advantages: Close to just about everything you'll ever want to see in Rome Disadvantages: It's a hotel, not home.
We've stayed at the Napoleon twice now and it just gets better and better!
Any review is only ever as good as the impression it gives to the reader and how much information can be taken away from it. So let me give you a few facts about this gem of Roman hospitality. Firstly mention simply must be made of the staff because, bless 'em, they are probably what gives the Napoleon it's great, beating heart. English is more and more the lingua franca ... ...Napoleon will find that all the desk staff are pretty fluent. Not only do they speak the language, they do it with a smile and a "can do" attitude which is simply breathtaking. Rooms are kept spotless. Breakfast is inclusive and buffet style, you'll be attended by staff who are alert yet unobtrusive. Metro Line B is just outside the door and if you'd rather walk you're only 15 - 20 minutes away from the historic centre of Rome and only about half ...

A Mummy-mummy. I've slept in a pyramid!
Advantages: Cheap, clean, friendly, accessible, genuine "Roman" area, big breakfast. Disadvantages: No lifts, not as close to town as other options.
...I stumbled across The Pyramid Hotel whilst making a last minute booking for a two day break for my wife and I in December 2005 and we have just returned from our long-awaited sojourn. I chose the Pyramid because from the description supplied at www.alpharooms.com the hotel seemed to be close to a metro station which is generally a must when having a city break and it was also very cheap for one nights Bed & Breakfast. The hotel is officially listed ... ...station. From the outside, the hotel is relatively non-descript and if you did not have a vague idea of where to look you may miss the door. Once through the automatic door, you are immediately in a very small reception tastefully kitted out like every other two-star hotel I have ever visited (see my review of Abbot Lodge - Dublin for example). The hotel is so named after the strange pyramid up the road which was built by a Roman noble in 26BC as ...

View of St Peter's from your bedroom!
Advantages: Location, staff, room size, breakfast Disadvantages: none
I stayed in the Hotel Michelangelo while on a work trip to Rome in December 2007 and i can't fault the hotel. We were holding a conference in their meeting rooms and they were nothing short of amazing in terms of helping us plan the event.
As a place to stay, the hotel was perfect. The bedrooms were really large. I had a twin room to myself and it was massive. i'm not sure how much we paid for the rooms, but as a charity, i know it wouldn't have ... ...value for money and helped make our conference such a success. The breakfasts were brilliant and plentiful and the buffet lunch we had was great.
The hotel is in the perfect spot for sightseeing in Rome. We arrived late at night, but headed straight out to explore the city - easy to do with such a perfect location right next to St Peter's - i could see the dome from my bedroom!!
I can't fault the hotel at all - i'd definitely recommend it for either ...

Haven of peace in Rome
Advantages: Very peaceful, friendly staff Disadvantages: 20 minute bus ride from centre
I stayed in this hotel with my partner as part of a package deal bought on Last Minute.
You have to take a bus to get there, it is about 20 minutes from the Termini station (bus 90) and another 10 to get to Plaza Venezia (bus 60). We didn't find this difficult as we live in London and are used to travelling. I also found central Rome very hectic and noisy and so liked returning to a quieter suburb. Plus you get to see the 'real' Rome, where people ... ...have to get off at the Sempione stop, cross the square and go up the hill, taking the first left on the corner with Blockbuster. It is a nice area, with shops, cafes and pizzerias, all much cheaper than central Rome. The buses run all night.
The hotel itself is gorgeous. It is four star, in a converted villa. It has very modern decoration, with modern art and black and white photos of Rome decorating white walls.
Our Rome had a wardrobe, trouser ...
