Hotel Daniela di Roma Advantages: Nothing really shone through Disadvantages: Awful beds, not great location, no added value ...leaving on Sunday night. Our hotel was booked on www.expedia.co.uk and I selected it based on recommendations from the website. This was our fist visit to Rome (simply fantastic) and we were lucky to have timed it for the last weekend of the month – meaning that on the Sunday a number of attractions were free to enter, most notably Vatican City, including the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica. The hotel is located just out of walking distance ... ...inside the city centre. The hotel is in a street parallel to a main road (Manzino) and there was little or no traffic noise. As you approach the hotel you will see a large HOTEL sign but the telling bit, ‘DANIELA’, is on the bottom and is partly obscured by trees so look carefully. Perfect for a short visit Advantages: Location and helpfulness of staff. Disadvantages: Rooms were too hot. So many might be put off because it is a chain hotel however positioning of this hotel is perfect. Just a few streets away you will find yourself in the Vatican City. However the management of the hotel was organised the rooms were clean and staff were more than willing to give a reccomendation all resturants recommended to us were excellent). A beautiful stay in Rome Advantages: Great Food, Very Clean, Perfect Location Disadvantages: Could go half board ...decided to stay at the Morgana hotel. Because it was her birthday we decided to hire a limo from the hotel to come and pick us up at the airport. When we arrived at the airport, there was a sign for us. We went to the car park all excited then he got to his car and said get in. It wasn't a limo. It was an italian limo, which means a black mercedes van. Advantages: Location, Price and Staff Disadvantages: Nothing, It is what it is! ...Location ********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Sharing my experience of the Sheraton Roma Advantages: Comfortable hotel - handy for the metro Disadvantages: Characterless - can be expensive ...booking the Sheraton. The Sheraton isn't in central Rome, it's in the EUR district. This presented no significant problem however. It's a breeze to find - take junction 26 on the ring road and head for central Rome. Go through the EUR district almost to the very end and turn left at the sign that says 'Sheraton Hotel' (you can see it from the road anyway). It's a big, modern(ish) hotel with absolutely no redeeming features architecturally but all ... ...what you'd expect in a Sheraton - glitzy and shiny with lots of leather sofas dotted around for those little tete-a-tetes, a large area to go online (or as they say ' the Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft'), and a large piano bar just off to the side. There's also a small shopping mall with four or five outlets offering gifts, jewellery and tobacco etc. Having sorted that all out, I went to park the car.
