Pisana Palace more like Pisana Hostel Advantages: Nice resturant Disadvantages: Far out, dated, horrid ...in April and booked this Hotel through Expedia as it was stated at 4*. Upon arrival to the Hotel, it was all old fashioned and quite dingey. Inside the carpets had stain's on and the Hotel lobby was very basic, few chairs dotted around. The staff were not exactly friendly and didnt like to be put out of their way to help you. There were 3 telephone booths in the lobby, one for cards and 2 for cash. The lifts could fit a few people in at anytime ... ...no good view. The Hotel is situated quite far out from the town and is a 15 minute bus journey to the Vatican. The Hotel does supply a shuttle bus 6 times a day 3 in the morning and 3 in the late afternoon/evening for 9 euro per person to the Airport. The hotel does have a resturant which was the nicest part of the hotel and the meals are reasonably priced. View of St Peter's from your bedroom! Advantages: Location, staff, room size, breakfast Disadvantages: none I stayed in the Hotel Michelangelo while on a work trip to Rome in December 2007 and i can't fault the hotel. We were holding a conference in their meeting rooms and they were nothing short of amazing in terms of helping us plan the event. As a place to stay, the hotel was perfect. The bedrooms were really large. I had a twin room to myself and it was massive. i'm not sure how much we paid for the rooms, but as a charity, i know it wouldn't have ... ...value for money and helped make our conference such a success. The breakfasts were brilliant and plentiful and the buffet lunch we had was great. The hotel is in the perfect spot for sightseeing in Rome. We arrived late at night, but headed straight out to explore the city - easy to do with such a perfect location right next to St Peter's - i could see the dome from my bedroom!! Perfect for a short visit Advantages: Location and helpfulness of staff. Disadvantages: Rooms were too hot. So many might be put off because it is a chain hotel however positioning of this hotel is perfect. Just a few streets away you will find yourself in the Vatican City. However the management of the hotel was organised the rooms were clean and staff were more than willing to give a reccomendation all resturants recommended to us were excellent). If there is a down side in the height of high summer - which again isn't the best time to visit Rome as ... ...installed with central heating were hotter than comfortable room temperature. To conclude the hotel has a good setting near the town centre but seculded enough the hospitality makes you feel at home and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The hotel is perfect for a weekend stay. Cardinal Hotel - Not Bad, Not Bad Advantages: Reception, Balcony, Breakfast Bar, Rooms Disadvantages: First Impression ...the taxi to find the Cardinal Hotel, St Peters. - The Address The address suggests that the hotel is basically on the door step of the Vatican its self. I have no idea why it was so similar to the address of the actual St Peters because the Cardinal Hotel is on the out skirts of the city. Even one or two of the taxi drivers who had been around for a while weren't sure where it was. To get to the hotel you have to turn off a main road after avoiding ... ...I first walked into the Cardinal Hotel I found a lounge where you could wait or relax, open to the elements which lead to the reception. When approaching the reception it gave me a very professional impression with clocks for around the world lined up on the wall behind the reception as well as a spotless desk which ran from one side of the room to the other. Want to Roam around Rome? - Stay Here! Advantages: Location, Price and Staff Disadvantages: Nothing, It is what it is! ...Location ********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Which ends up costing a bomb. So I decided this trip we would pay the money and stay in the centre ...
