...the taxi to find the Cardinal Hotel, St Peters. - The Address
The address suggests that the hotel is basically on the door step of the Vatican its self. I have no idea why it was so similar to the address of the actual St Peters because the Cardinal Hotel is on the out skirts of the city. Even one or two of the taxi drivers who had been around for a while weren't sure where it was. To get to the hotel you have to turn off a main road after avoiding ... ...I first walked into the Cardinal Hotel I found a lounge where you could wait or relax, open to the elements which lead to the reception. When approaching the reception it gave me a very professional impression with clocks for around the world lined up on the wall behind the reception as well as a spotless desk which ran from one side of the room to the other. To Italian staff there were very friendly helping where ever they could from an enquiry ...
Advantages: Nice resturant Disadvantages: Far out, dated, horrid
...in April and booked this Hotel through Expedia as it was stated at 4*.
Upon arrival to the Hotel, it was all old fashioned and quite dingey. Inside the carpets had stain's on and the Hotel lobby was very basic, few chairs dotted around. The staff were not exactly friendly and didnt like to be put out of their way to help you.
There were 3 telephone booths in the lobby, one for cards and 2 for cash.
The lifts could fit a few people in at anytime ... ...no good view.
The Hotel is situated quite far out from the town and is a 15 minute bus journey to the Vatican. The Hotel does supply a shuttle bus 6 times a day 3 in the morning and 3 in the late afternoon/evening for 9 euro per person to the Airport. The hotel does have a resturant which was the nicest part of the hotel and the meals are reasonably priced. The hotel is supposed to have a bar but there was NO sight of any bar when we went there ...

...what we got from the Pineta Palace.
The Pineta Palace is situated in the north west of Rome, has 200 rooms, is about 5km from the city centre, has a restaurant, an indoor bar, an outdoor bar and a business conference centre. For a one night stay, a room costs around 40 euros, but if you're staying for a week there's quite a good discount. Getting There
The hotel is about a 25 minute taxi drive from Rome's main airport. We had pre-booked a taxi ... ...The taxi on the way back at the end of our holiday, however, which we booked from the hotel, ended up setting us back 50 euros, so it's definitely a good idea to book your taxis in advance. Getting around Rome from the hotel was really easy. The hotel has a shuttle bus service which runs a service into the centre of Rome with a bus leaving approximately every half hour (from approx 7am to 6pm). Tickets are about 2 euros for a day pass. The pick up ...
Advantages: Inexpensive for it's quality and location, very polite staff, very quiet Disadvantages: Expensive restaurant
...Carpegna hotel, part of the Jolly hotels chain. It seemed to be within walking distance of the centre of Rome, fairly inexpensive for Rome (£90 per room per night), and had four stars. I duly booked it.
The hotel lived up to all expectations, in fact I've never stayed in such a plush hotel. It was only a 30 minute walk to the Vatican (and a very cheap taxi ride back at night) and situated in a nice safe area. A very good buffet breakfast was included ... ...from a 4 star hotel. The staff were all very polite and helpful and all spoke English, and (especially important I think) the hotel was very quiet.
The only slight criticism I would have was of the restaurant. The food was very good, but incredibly over-priced £15-20 for the cheapest main course. We ate there on the first night as we arrived late and couldn't see any nearby restaurants (there are in fact restuarants in the nearby square). I would ...

...we decided to stay at Express By Holiday Inn San Giovanni located at Via Assisi 53. We had to pay 125 € per room. Arriving in Rome We landed in Rome at about 11 am in the morning of October 21st. We walked over to the train station at Leonardo da Vinci airport also known as Fiumicino (FCO). From here you can take the Leonardo Express to Termini but since the hotel is located on the way we decided to go for a local train direction Orte-Fara Sabina ... ...train station Rome Tuscolana. It was easy to find the hotel…we just followed the instructions from the hotel web site and it was only a 5-10 minute walk. The room I got a room on the first floor and the room itself must be one of the nicest rooms that I have seen in a 1 star hotel. The room was standard size with a blue carpet and yellow/light walls. The double bed was comfortable enough but there was only a blanket as a cover so it got a bit cold ...
