Advantages: MARCO's TEA ROOM
Disadvantages: Closer to Station than main Attractions.

We stayed at this Hotel 2 years ago and I would certainly give it more than a One Star rating as it has in the Product Listing. This hotel is very well located if you are using either the Easyjet or Ryanair Buses from the Ciampano Airport. They drop off near the Railway Station, so also good if arriving in Rome by Train. ...station at your back, you soon come to Carlo Alberto the road the Hotel is in. There is a very large Church at the end of the Road, Santa Maria Maggiore so if stuck ask for directions to this Church, the locals are more likely to know this. The Hotel has a small lobby but very helpful friendly staff. There seems to be quite a few nice DEEP LEATHER chairs to sit about in if your room is not quite ready. ...As with every Express by Holiday Inn, they are all very similar and this one was no different. As we arrived in Rome around 9.30pm and had never been before we took a taxi to the hotel. This didn't take very long and cost €55 but between 3 people this was fine. The hotel offered a price of €50 to pick 2 people up in a private car waiting at the airport where someone waits with a sign with your name on it. As there were 3 of us it made more sense ...
...arrived at the hotel after 10pm it was very quiet in check in was quick and simple. I gave my name and everyone staying was asked for their passport. A copy of all passports were taken and we were issued with our keycard. Our room was on the 6th floor and the lifts were next to reception so very each to get to. ...disaster. I booked the Champagne Palace based on its location and the fact it was advertised as a 4 star hotel. It is literally across the road from the Termini station which is its only plus point. On arrival we went into reception and were given a room on the 4th floor. the hotel has one lift which you can see down the lift shaft - not great! Our room was 9 foot long by 8 foot wide. ...the light fitting out of the ceiling in the bathroom, the minibar has an open can of coke and bottle of water which was warm, the air conditioning unit was hanging out the wall and when we tried to open the window the handle fell off! We approached reception still with our cases and advised we wanted to move.
