No fizz in this champagne!
Advantages: location - next to the termini station Disadvantages: everything else
...disaster. I booked the Champagne Palace based on its location and the fact it was advertised as a 4 star hotel. It is literally across the road from the Termini station which is its only plus point.
On arrival we went into reception and were given a room on the 4th floor. the hotel has one lift which you can see down the lift shaft - not great! Our room was 9 foot long by 8 foot wide. There was barely enough room to move down the side of the double ... ...the light fitting out of the ceiling in the bathroom, the minibar has an open can of coke and bottle of water which was warm, the air conditioning unit was hanging out the wall and when we tried to open the window the handle fell off!
We approached reception still with our cases and advised we wanted to move. It took ovr an hour and several calls to the manager before we were advised they had a ground floor room which was an upgrade, however we ...

When In Rome...
Advantages: Great Location, Great Room, Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Lack of Wardrobe Space
When In Rome…
=
When we decided to go to Rome we initially looked for a package deal, however, it soon became clear that this wasn't going to be practical and it would be far better to organise it ourselves.
The first thing we did was to look for accommodation, of course this can be a mine field, some were just too far away from the centre and some just had awful reviews on tripadvisor.com (an invaluable resource).
Eventually, after ... ...hotel, it was pretty much in the centre of the tourist attractions and had good reviews so we decided to book it, we were not disappointed. The hotel is three star (Ciao's description says one star for some reason).
The outside of the hotel is very nice, a traditional six storey building like most in Rome with a rusty clay look. It is on a corner. You can't miss it as it's got a large sign outside with a clock on it.
When we went in we were greeted ...

Want to Roam around Rome? - Stay Here!
Advantages: Location, Price and Staff Disadvantages: Nothing, It is what it is!
...Location
********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Which ends up costing a bomb. So I decided this trip we would pay the money and stay in the centre ...

Sharing my experience of the Sheraton Roma
Advantages: Comfortable hotel - handy for the metro Disadvantages: Characterless - can be expensive
...booking the Sheraton.
The Sheraton isn't in central Rome, it's in the EUR district. This presented no significant problem however. It's a breeze to find - take junction 26 on the ring road and head for central Rome. Go through the EUR district almost to the very end and turn left at the sign that says 'Sheraton Hotel' (you can see it from the road anyway). It's a big, modern(ish) hotel with absolutely no redeeming features architecturally but all ... ...what you'd expect in a Sheraton - glitzy and shiny with lots of leather sofas dotted around for those little tete-a-tetes, a large area to go online (or as they say ' the Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft'), and a large piano bar just off to the side. There's also a small shopping mall with four or five outlets offering gifts, jewellery and tobacco etc.
Having sorted that all out, I went to park the car. The hotel does have (unguarded) free ...

Hilton Hotel, Yaounde
Advantages: Cheap, clean and friendly Disadvantages: Not good for people who hate french
My first day in this hotel with my wife made me proud of the choosen hotel. I was pleased to be there. The receptionist was quite good to us and was very explicit in our doubts. She even went as far as given us directives about the town. The rooms were super and the bed was fantastic. It was a lovely breakfast and a cool varenda to view the city. The restaurant was good and the food was very good. It was cheap for the number of nights we spent there ...
