Ambra Hotel
Advantages: great position beautiful building Disadvantages: a bit pricey but worth it
We stayed for a long weekend in May. The hotel is a beautiful old building which goes back to about about 1850 . Its been completely renovated and has all the mod cons that you would expect in a 4 star hotel. The bedrooms are lovely. We had a double and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price and we had a lovely italian breakfast with rich creamy cappuccinos and italian cakes. the buffet was more on the sweet side but ...

Excellent, definately be back
Advantages: Central, beside termi station, lovely rooms, rooftop garden bar. Disadvantages: No restaurant, just breakfast room and rooftop bar opens at 7
I cannot praise this hotel enough. I got married in rome recently and booked this hotel for me and my guests and was more than happy. This hotel is great. The rooms are lovely , clean, the staff are great. Its in a great location. Most of the big sites were within 5-10 mins walking distance, trevi fountain, colousium, etc. Its on Romes main shopping street. The breakfast is lovely. The don't have a restaurant, but have a lovely rooftop garden, which ... ...have background music and they have snacks, cocktails. There is an irish pub 2 doors down from it if your feeling hungry for a bigger meal. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Its is also 2 mins walk from Tremi station so all you have to do is get a bus or train to there and its a 2 mins walk down the street. I will defiantely go back here and would reccomend anyone to stay here, its so reasonable price for such a central hotel. ...

Le Caprice - birthday visit
Advantages: Well known for celebrity viewing Disadvantages: Tables close together
Myself, my partner and my teenage son paid a visit to this restaurant for my partner's birthday. It was relatively easy to get a table (although I did book 3 months in advance!). I needed to extend the booking to include my son and they were very pleased to do so.
Upon arrival we were shown to our table, which was at the far end of the restaurant but afforded a good view of the entrance (with many personalised plates adorning the cars!) and the ... ...the crispy duck was indeed crispy - bordering on rock hard!
The main courses were mouth watering (although they do not come with vegetables and we were not asked if we wanted them at the time of ordering!)
The desserts were out of this world (honeycomb ice cream to die for!) and my partner's dessert arrived with 'happy birthday' beautifully piped on the plate.
Good value for money, people watching paradise and well worth a visit! ...

An expensive Roman orgy!
Advantages: location, beautiful rooms, clean, tidy, rooftop terrace Disadvantages: staff are unwelcoming at first
...so I decided upon the Valadier hotel due to its reasonable prices, good write up on a few traveling websites and its location.
Set off on a cobbled side street off the Piazza del Popolo, the hotel has 60 guest rooms and is approximately 35km (approximately 21 miles) from Fuimicino Airport and is within walking distance of the Rome metro system and most of the main sights to see when visiting Rome. In terms of distance, the Spanish Steps are only ... ...a hotel named after Giuseppe Valadier who designed the Piazza del Popolo in the early 1800s.
As I approached the front doors after finally finding the side street off the Piazza del Popolo I was filled with a sense of dread. I had paid 170 Euros (approximately £130) per night for a standard double room so was expecting a pretty top notch hotel only to be greeted by a rather dull façade that looked grimy and in need of a good sandblasting. The fears ...

Want to Roam around Rome? - Stay Here!
Advantages: Location, Price and Staff Disadvantages: Nothing, It is what it is!
...Location
********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Which ends up costing a bomb. So I decided this trip we would pay the money and stay in the centre ...
