Advantages: Well known for celebrity viewing Disadvantages: Tables close together
Myself, my partner and my teenage son paid a visit to this restaurant for my partner's birthday. It was relatively easy to get a table (although I did book 3 months in advance!). I needed to extend the booking to include my son and they were very pleased to do so.
Upon arrival we were shown to our table, which was at the far end of the restaurant but afforded a good view of the entrance (with many personalised plates adorning the cars!) and the ... ...the crispy duck was indeed crispy - bordering on rock hard!
The main courses were mouth watering (although they do not come with vegetables and we were not asked if we wanted them at the time of ordering!)
The desserts were out of this world (honeycomb ice cream to die for!) and my partner's dessert arrived with 'happy birthday' beautifully piped on the plate.
Good value for money, people watching paradise and well worth a visit! ...
Advantages: Close to just about everything you'll ever want to see in Rome Disadvantages: It's a hotel, not home.
We've stayed at the Napoleon twice now and it just gets better and better!
Any review is only ever as good as the impression it gives to the reader and how much information can be taken away from it. So let me give you a few facts about this gem of Roman hospitality. Firstly mention simply must be made of the staff because, bless 'em, they are probably what gives the Napoleon it's great, beating heart. English is more and more the lingua franca ... ...Napoleon will find that all the desk staff are pretty fluent. Not only do they speak the language, they do it with a smile and a "can do" attitude which is simply breathtaking. Rooms are kept spotless. Breakfast is inclusive and buffet style, you'll be attended by staff who are alert yet unobtrusive. Metro Line B is just outside the door and if you'd rather walk you're only 15 - 20 minutes away from the historic centre of Rome and only about half ...
Advantages: 10 minutes walk from the Colloseum Disadvantages: None
...I stayed at the Lancelot Hotel for 4 nights in April 2004. This was our second visit. Once more we felt we got great value for money. This is a great little hotel for people who want to be fairly central in Rome but not pay the earth. We enjoy walking and managed to see most of the sights without resorting to public transport. The staff at this hotel are all English speaking and very helpful. The bedrooms, although fairly basic, are very clean and ... ...more.
I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who wishes to see Rome, likes to stay in good accomodation, but doesn't want to pay the ridiculous prices of some of the central hotels. Don't be put off by the fact that this hotel is tucked away in a back street. This really is a little gem! ...
Advantages: Staff, rooms and BREAKFASTS! Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way location
This was our first hotel in Rome. We stayed at 2 not because it would mean that I could write two ops, but because Lastminute.com was only offering this one for the first 2 nights of our stay. I really wanted to stay here after having read about it on the net, so I booked those two nights anyway, even though I knew it would mean moving hotels.
WHY I BOOKED
I like posh hotels. I mean really like them. But I’m a student, I do a lot of traveling ... ...GETTING THERE
The Hotel is on the outskirts of the city, but still only a 5 minute ride from the main Termini metro station. It is located just off a Piazza (not the square I was expecting, but a busy roundabout), only seconds from the Bologna metro station (line B, the blue one). We taxied from the station when we arrived, and even with surcharges for luggage and it being the middle of the night, it was less than 10 Euros. The address and all contact ...
Advantages: Nothing really shone through Disadvantages: Awful beds, not great location, no added value
...leaving on Sunday night. Our hotel was booked on www.expedia.co.uk and I selected it based on recommendations from the website. This was our fist visit to Rome (simply fantastic) and we were lucky to have timed it for the last weekend of the month – meaning that on the Sunday a number of attractions were free to enter, most notably Vatican City, including the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica. The hotel is located just out of walking distance ... ...inside the city centre. The hotel is in a street parallel to a main road (Manzino) and there was little or no traffic noise. As you approach the hotel you will see a large HOTEL sign but the telling bit, ‘DANIELA’, is on the bottom and is partly obscured by trees so look carefully. The décor throughout the hotel was surprising tasteful, with deep and dark colours and lots of red around. I noticed that all of the wall paper was textured and actually ...
