Sharing my experience of the Sheraton Roma
Advantages: Comfortable hotel - handy for the metro Disadvantages: Characterless - can be expensive
...booking the Sheraton.
The Sheraton isn't in central Rome, it's in the EUR district. This presented no significant problem however. It's a breeze to find - take junction 26 on the ring road and head for central Rome. Go through the EUR district almost to the very end and turn left at the sign that says 'Sheraton Hotel' (you can see it from the road anyway). It's a big, modern(ish) hotel with absolutely no redeeming features architecturally but all ... ...what you'd expect in a Sheraton - glitzy and shiny with lots of leather sofas dotted around for those little tete-a-tetes, a large area to go online (or as they say ' the Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft'), and a large piano bar just off to the side. There's also a small shopping mall with four or five outlets offering gifts, jewellery and tobacco etc.
Having sorted that all out, I went to park the car. The hotel does have (unguarded) free ...

When In Rome...
Advantages: Fantastic location, brilliant service, immaculate Disadvantages: It is pricey, but then, Rome is generally pricey
...recommended to stay at Hotel Cicerone . Hotel Cicerone is a 4* hotel with 292 rooms located a 5 minute walk from Lepanto metro station, on via Cicerone. We had flown into Rome Ciampino airport, taken a bus transfer to Termini station and then the metro to Lepanto; it was a really easy journey. We had made our booking online via a third party site and had seen from the thumbnail photos that the hotel looked rather nice, but when we actually arrived ... ...really was! It is a very beautiful and elegant hotel indeed. The entrance to the hotel is via an automatic revolving door which takes you into the large lobby. The lobby is all marble floors and cherry wood furniture, every inch clean and polished to perfection. We had packed jeans and trainers for our trip as we planned to do a heck of a lot of walking and sightseeing, so you can imagine we felt a little out of place dressed this way in such a gorgeous ...

The Crowne's not fit for a king
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, pleasant staff Disadvantages: Mix up at check-in, restaurant v. expensive,
...have never stayed in a Crowne Plaza before (but have stayed in a Holiday Inn, which is the same chain of hotels) and we thought it looked nice.
We got a taxi from the airport (Ciampino) which took about 30 minutes. We booked the taxi before we left England, to pick us up from the airport and it was charged to our bill. ~ On Arrival ~
Upon arriving at the hotel, it looked nice and clean. We walked into the reception with our luggage and joined the ... ...around £70 per night.
Crowne Plaza is located 3km from Rome centre, there was a courtesy bus to take guests from the hotel to Vatican City or Rome Centre, several times a day. We found this was a cheap (obviously!) convenient way to travel to the city. We did get a taxi back on a few occasions, which cost £6-£7 depending whereabouts in the city you got picked up. We did travel in the courtesy bus as much as possible but sometimes we wanted to travel ...

Excellent Central Rome Hotel
Advantages: Central, cheap, clean, Disadvantages: holiday was too short!!
...bits. We eventually decided on Valle hotel and we are glad we did. ::: Why the Valle Hotel? :::
There are a number of reasons why we chose Valle. The first was that it was central, about 5minutes walk from the main train station (Stazione Termini) from there you can catch a bus to anywhere in the city, or get the metro or a train to other local towns or further afield if you wish. ::: The Hotel:::
It is a relatively small hotel with only 40 rooms. ... ...Rome :::
The Hotel Valle is well connected with the rest of the city with the main train and bus station being 5minutes away, there are two metro stations nearby too, only 5mins in either direction from the hotel. Unfortunately the metro in Rome is limited, there are currently only two lines although they are in the process of building a third. Therefore we tended to use buses, an extremely cheap and easy way to get around the city, once you realise ...

Want to Roam around Rome? - Stay Here!
Advantages: Location, Price and Staff Disadvantages: Nothing, It is what it is!
...Location
********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Which ends up costing a bomb. So I decided this trip we would pay the money and stay in the centre ...
