Advantages: This is a very Central Hotel close to the Vatican, Metro point and City Centre Disadvantages: No evening meals
...metros to get to the hotel as opposed to using Taxis. This was in fact much easier than we both suspected, with the hotel literally only 100 yards from the metro station.
The hotel is very atractive and its historic genre allows it to blend itslef very well with the localiity. Inside the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were both clean and very well maintained. Hotel Farnese, is located very close to the Vatican and is easily ... ...of what I found to be a very exciting and stylish city.
The hotel was excellent in every respect. My partner and I plan to revisit the city in October again and will be using the same hotel. I can only but very highly recomend this hotel. ...
Advantages: Fantastic location, brilliant service, immaculate Disadvantages: It is pricey, but then, Rome is generally pricey
...recommended to stay at Hotel Cicerone . Hotel Cicerone is a 4* hotel with 292 rooms located a 5 minute walk from Lepanto metro station, on via Cicerone. We had flown into Rome Ciampino airport, taken a bus transfer to Termini station and then the metro to Lepanto; it was a really easy journey. We had made our booking online via a third party site and had seen from the thumbnail photos that the hotel looked rather nice, but when we actually arrived ... ...really was! It is a very beautiful and elegant hotel indeed. The entrance to the hotel is via an automatic revolving door which takes you into the large lobby. The lobby is all marble floors and cherry wood furniture, every inch clean and polished to perfection. ********* The Clarin Hotel is a 2 star hotel situated in Via Palermo, a street central to the city centre although on the Eastern side, and approximately a 5 minute walk from Termini Station and a 10-12 minute walk to the Coliseum and many other attractions. I would recommend getting the train from the airport (either of them) to Termini Station as the hotel is 2 roads away from the station, and as long as your case has wheels or bag isn't ... ...I ended up booking the Clarin Hotel via the intermediary Lastminute.com and I don't know how much they charge in commission but I still found it reasonably priced. I have been on city breaks before where we have skimped on spending loads on a hotel in the centre and ended up suffering and having to wait for buses/trams/taxi's to take us in and out. Which ends up costing a bomb. So I decided this trip we would pay the money and stay in the centre ...

...booking the Sheraton.
The Sheraton isn't in central Rome, it's in the EUR district. This presented no significant problem however. It's a breeze to find - take junction 26 on the ring road and head for central Rome. Go through the EUR district almost to the very end and turn left at the sign that says 'Sheraton Hotel' (you can see it from the road anyway). It's a big, modern(ish) hotel with absolutely no redeeming features architecturally but all ... ...what you'd expect in a Sheraton - glitzy and shiny with lots of leather sofas dotted around for those little tete-a-tetes, a large area to go online (or as they say ' the Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft'), and a large piano bar just off to the side. There's also a small shopping mall with four or five outlets offering gifts, jewellery and tobacco etc.
Having sorted that all out, I went to park the car. The hotel does have (unguarded) free ...
