When In Rome...
Review of Cicerone Hotel, Rome by
baby_uk
Advantages: Fantastic location, brilliant service, immaculate
Disadvantages: It is pricey, but then, Rome is generally pricey
...recommended to stay at Hotel Cicerone . Hotel Cicerone is a 4* hotel with 292 rooms located a 5 minute walk from Lepanto metro station, on via Cicerone. We had flown into Rome Ciampino airport, taken a bus transfer to Termini station and then the metro to Lepanto; it was a really easy journey. We had made our booking online via a third party site and had seen from the thumbnail photos that the hotel looked rather nice, but when we actually arrived ... ...really was! It is a very beautiful and elegant hotel indeed. The entrance to the hotel is via an automatic revolving door which takes you into the large lobby. The lobby is all marble floors and cherry wood furniture, every inch clean and polished to perfection. We had packed jeans and trainers for our trip as we planned to do a heck of a lot of walking and sightseeing, so you can imagine we felt a little out of place dressed this way in such a gorgeous ...

Airport ... ...Our visit to the Hotel Melia was an exceptional experience, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back. This is all about how we got there and what
it was like during our visit.
How we got there.
---------------------
It was a little more difficult for us to travel directly to Rome as we live in Inverness in the North of Scotland. Inverness is a city but our airport still doesn't have direct flights to all European and International ...

Don't bother
Review of Parco Tirreno, Rome by
gotthejazz
Advantages: Not a lot
Disadvantages: A lot
I booked into this hotel on the basis that it was relatively cheap for a so called 4 star hotel.
Pros:
- Staff were friendly
- Rooms were actually appartments with fridges etc
Cons:
- Rooms were very old fashionned - did not seem to have been decorated for 30 odd years.
- No bath, only a shower.
- Shower did not drain very well and therefore had to limit showers to a couple of mins.
- There was a high charge to use the swimming pool (may ... ...Most guests were american school children - not the most relaxing
- Breakfast was poor at best
- There was a charge for car parking (10 euro a day I think)
- It is difficult to get to and from the airport so taxi is essential
- The underground station was a fair walk and the area is not very nice (we had an attempted pickpocketting and mugging).
Conclusion:
Overall as you can probably tell I was not happy and in hindsight i would have gladly ...

The Crowne's not fit for a king
Review of Crowne Plaza Rome Saint Peter's, Rome by
bluejules
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, pleasant staff
Disadvantages: Mix up at check-in, restaurant v. expensive,
...have never stayed in a Crowne Plaza before (but have stayed in a Holiday Inn, which is the same chain of hotels) and we thought it looked nice.
We got a taxi from the airport (Ciampino) which took about 30 minutes. We booked the taxi before we left England, to pick us up from the airport and it was charged to our bill. ~ On Arrival ~
Upon arriving at the hotel, it looked nice and clean. We walked into the reception with our luggage and joined the ... ...around £70 per night.
Crowne Plaza is located 3km from Rome centre, there was a courtesy bus to take guests from the hotel to Vatican City or Rome Centre, several times a day. We found this was a cheap (obviously!) convenient way to travel to the city. We did get a taxi back on a few occasions, which cost £6-£7 depending whereabouts in the city you got picked up. We did travel in the courtesy bus as much as possible but sometimes we wanted to travel ...

A friendly staffed hotel
Review of Relais Vaticano, Rome by
funky_frankie888
Advantages: Clean, comfortable, helpful staff
Disadvantages: None!
...is very fast and often wreckless and drivers do not always stop to let pedestrians cross the roads.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and air-conditioned and the atmosphere was very friendly.
I would strongly recommend the Relais Vaticano hotel for short stays. ...
