The trip to and from the falls as well as the falls themselves is absolutely amazing. The journey begins on a boat road up the river from Canaima which although rather uncomfortable is breath-taking. The rivers are huge and the scenery amazing. After a four hour boat journey you arrive at a 'campsite'. Here hammocks are the choice of sleeping arrangement and there is a small permanent base. A good mosquito net is essential as well as comfortable clothes. After a good night's sleep here the next day involves an hour long trek to the Falls themselves. The trek isn't too strenuous although i would recommend one to bring good walking boots. It isn't actually possible to get to the base of the Falls without going some way off the beaten track, but the sight from the peaked viewing point is amazing to say the least. THE KATHERINE GORGE AND NITMILUK NATIONALPARK

Katherine is a mining town in the Northern Territory of Australia there is not alot in the actual town but the reason for coming here is to experience the surrounding area and the Nitmiluk NationalPark.

We were in to the coach for 7.30 and off to Katherine Gorge for our gorge boat ride. The area where you board the boat is set up for picnics with BBQs and tables with chairs and there were nice clean toilets areas too which we made good use of. There was no reception area to speak of or any gift shop so you just had to wait around out in the open. We were entertained by the flying foxes hanging in the trees; every now and then one would fly across to another tree then fold himself up and hang from a branch again. Finally the national language is Spanish but the South American variety, do not expect to find everyone speaking English that will be rare, if you want to be able to travel and not get ripped off then you do need to learn the basics unless you are heading to one of the Caribbean resorts and then in my opinion you are not visiting Venezuela just a beach.
