MALMAISON NEWCASTLE - LE PETITE SPA

Advantages: Far too many to mention here!
Disadvantages: None, only that I would have likes to set up camp there!

***This is a review only of the Spa facilities at Malmaison Newcastle, which can be used by hotel guests or visitors. As we did not stay overnight here, I cannot comment on the rest of the hotel, though everything we say and experienced was exquisite, and I would definately stay at one of their sister hotels if I am travelling away from Newcastle*** Having recently suffered from a bout of depression that left me feeling pretty rough, I decided to treat myself and my best friend to an afternoon being pampered at Newcastle's Malmaison. Their Petite Spa had just been refurbished, and so I decided this was the place to go. My friend flew up from London and we had lunch on Newcastle's Quay-Side, visited The Baltic Art Gallery, and headed over to Malmaison for our 5pm appointment. There are lots of treatments to choose from, ranging ...

NEWCASTLE'S BEST KEPT SECRET....OOOPS!

Advantages: Amazing food, wonderful staff, good prices, good atmosphere...good everything!
Disadvantages: You'll want to eat every meal there!!!!

PANIS CAFÉ One of Newcastle?s Best Kept Secrets So Don?t be Telling Everyone you Meet!!!! Down an old cobbled back lane in Newcastle, halfway down the hill to the Tyne, in spitting distance of the famous Theatre Royal, and overlooked by Lord Grey Himself, is a tiny piece of Sardinia, in the shape of Panis Café. It is a bit of a secret, and people who go there don?t usually talk too much about it, for fear of the place being overrun. I?ve been a regular there since it opened 10 years ago and if I take you there, it?s because you?re special, and I trust you will love it as much as I do. Panis Café is run by an Italian family, and it is THE Italian place to eat in Newcastle. They serve real Italian food, made with character and style, presented beautifully by real Italians in a place that brims with multi-lingual chatter and talk ...

Fine Italian Food on the Tyne - Azzuri Restaurant

Advantages: Great food, popular, affordable
Disadvantages: Too noisy and crowded on Saturdays

ruined the relaxed ambience it seemed they were aiming for. The restaurant seems to be caught on the edge of almost pretentious London-style trendy wannabe chic but tI was pleased to discover this didn't extend to arty food - the hearty portion sizes and great tastes and ingredients did not fit with this ethos and tasted like good Italian home-cooking, whcih was a relief. We ordered the house red wine which came in an unusually shaped bottle and was very drinkable and reasonably priced. My Mum and I both had the stuffed pepper to start and were hugely impressed, the only drawback of this dish was its size, and this can hardly be called a criticism - it was HUGE, and could almost have passed have a main course. It was full of flavour with a generous melted cheese topping and a gorgeous rich tomato sauce that tasted freshly made. My partner ...
