Advantages: Absolutely wonderful staff Disadvantages: Fawlty Towers without Basil
I took my mum on a 5 day coach tour to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs in September, for her 80th birthday. It was her first big outing for 18 months, as she was knocked down by a hit and run driver in January of last year, and hospitalised for three months, having about 7 operations (we lost count) and left permanently disabled and walking with a stick. She lost her independence and her "get up and go" so I wanted to take her somewhere nice to try to give her a boost.
Anyway, I digress.
When we arrived at the hotel the setting itself was wonderful, Rhu is only a small place but the hotel overlooks Rhu bay and in itself looks very impressive, so we were hopeful that it would be a good stay. The staff when we arrived could not have been more helpful, and our bags were whisked up to our rooms within minutes of arrival (there being ...
Advantages: Friendly staff, clean Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems
My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there.
From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces.
The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc)
The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor staffing, Restaurant not always open
I have recently returned from a 3 day stay at the Nent Hotel. The room was lacking a cup and had no towels but was generally in good order. There was no information pack regarding meal times and hotel arrangements etc. The restaurant was pleasant, apart from piped music (6 awful crooner tracks repeated) and the menu was short and rather over priced. Returning from a Sunday's touring at 11.10 p.m. I was amazed to find the place locked up and all staff gone home! After ten minutes hammering on doors I was let in by a fellow guest. This is quite un-acceptable. A neighbour across the road with in structions to 'keep an eye on the place' came across and found my room key. Incidentally, the restaurant was closed for the next two days, residents having to eat in the bar.The place is badly in need of more staff and in my opinion should not be ...
