A few nights in Bangkok
Review of General: Bangkok by  gard

Advantages: Shopping, great food, cheap, friendly people
Disadvantages: Tuk-tuk drivers, pollution

...see that there is a possibility for that. Maybe that is just typical Norwegian :-) While we were on the other side of the river we decided to walk over to see the Royal Barges. I think we did misjudge the distance a little bit because it took us quite a while to get there. And the entrance from the road to the Royal Barges was really strange: it took us through narrow pathways and it was like almost like going through a maze. But there were signs so we had no trouble finding it. But I’m not sure that the barges were worth the walk though. It is more or less just a big garage for 8-10 big boats. After a trip to Krabi and Hua Hin we came back to Bangkok again: Back in Bangkok On Wednesday 25th we went back to Bangkok. We came down to Hua Hin on a bus and we decided that we wanted to try the train in the other direction. So we... Read review

A FEW NIGHTS IN BANGKOK
Review of Bangkok in general by  purdy

Advantages: Lots to do and see
Disadvantages: Very hot humid and hectiv

...such as Jim Thompson’s he who set up the silk trade between Thailand and the west – we didn’t visit this – to be honest it didn’t really interest me that much! The Royal Barges Museum; various other wats and museums. For night life there’s the bars in and around Patpong. These aren’t for the faint hearted – expect to be hassled – though not in an aggressive manner – by touts looking for business. Don’t be surprised if you are invited in to watch a ping pong show or a pussy show (and l ain’t talking about cute little cats!). To be honest l did get my eyes opened to an extent, and it is sleazy, but it is part of Bangkok! I enjoyed the city immensely, and l will definitely go back – there’s so much to say or do. The city does have a hectic pace... Read review

National Railway Museum, free after 1st December.
Review of National Railway Museum (York) by  Conicview

Advantages: Good for children and adults
Disadvantages: Vast

...From December 1st all national museums are free icluding the Railway Museum. However, my recent visit to the Railway Museum at York cost £22.50 for three adults and three children (admission for children is free). Nevertheless, the NRM made a brilliant day out. It’s a great place for railway enthusiasts and children alike. I was not expecting anything quite as vast as this museum – believe me – it’s absolutely enormous. So if you are planning a visit, try and make a day of it but even if you can’t spare that sort of time – half a day in this museum is worthwhile. As you might imagine full of trains – so it has to be vast to accommodate them all. Put a good pair of walking shoes on because there is a lot of walking to do. How to get there The NRM is ten minutes walk from York Railway... Read review

If you're the same age as me then when someone says the words "De Barge" to you, you can't help but be thrown back to the mid-80s and that awful cheesy pop song "Rhythm Of The Night". Fortunately the De Barge I'm reviewing here is far from cheesy and... more
